Another fan of walled gardens here, especially if they come with a gardener!

Need another blast of sun to get the tree fruit ripe, they still havent caught up from the late start to the season.

Ah, well. Nothing much to say except MP coming up against exactly the same as we have.
    Looks like we'll rot here.

LIR - I found something online which lays out the criteria & may help you with deciding if this is a possible problem for the future so I've PMed.

Rozee, I could be seriously tempted by a lavender suite, are you open to offers?! Our bathroom is a dark blue/turquoise colour, with similar coloured mosaic borders and white tiles put in by previous owners - I haven't even finished painting it the dark colour yet so I don't really want to change the scheme too much. I also have the original sink which I'd like to keep but it's a very pale blue/grey so I've had no luck finding a loo or bath that might match and fit the 20's-30's period...

We need to change the tub as it is a hideous scalloped thing with whirlpool jets that chuck out black bits if you use it. The sealant needs to be redone too. We also need to replace the shower over the bath which leaks a scary amount of water since we went from an old boiler to a combi - I leave the plug is in and send the water down to a huge IBC via a hosepipe out the window!

Anyway IF we can just change the tub and the shower can be replaced without fiddling with the tiles too much we'll do that. BUT if the tiles break or whatever we might need to retile the lot at which point I'd consider a colour change!

Also looking at schemes for the downstairs, it's blooming hard to visualise these things, going to make a mood board thingy and put all the ideas in one place before my head explodes!
Ferretkeeper, you are funny. Most people come into the bathroom and laugh at our suite and ask when it's going to be ripped out... Fashion is a strange construct, isn't it? We're stuck with it, at the moment, whether we like it or not. We can't afford anything else. We can certainly live with it. I get the impression you want something soon? If not and we decide we are modernising, I'll let you know.

I'm trying to get my head around Photobucket. I have loaded a crop of Facebook photos up there, as this seemed the easiest way, but I now ccan't work out what can be seen and by whom. Would someone check for me please? I'm rozeepozee and the album "Let the Building Begin!" has a password Daydream, specially for you guys :)

Dave, those are very handsome chickens. I was planning on going for ex-bats again when we move as they are such good layers, very friendly, and I like the idea of giving batty chucks a nice retirement, but I must admit I am tempted by your Fenton Blues.

Hope the hand is starting to heal up alfie, and your flower garden is lovely.

CTC any progress on the raised beds?

Well, it's been a glorious couple of days here in Suffolk. Still recovering from my op so have been chilling out in the garden, warming my bones while the good weather lasts.

My brother, sister in law and their children are descending on us in a couple of days for the BH weekend so I have to get in as much rest as possible as it will be hectic and noisy. Not used to having a 4 and 5 year old running around the place. If the weather is good they will probably spend a lot of time in the garden as they only have a tiny yard at home.

House purchase going smoothly, touch wood. Not only that our solicitor seems to be on an efficiency drive and is writing back to me by return of post. Very impressive, lets hope it lasts :D:D

One minor disaster. I had saved a choc orange to treat myself with, but when I went to the cupboard today, only a couple of slices left. DH had been helping himself, despite knowing that choc oranges are sacrosanct.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Wedding preparations going on apace atm, bride to be and groom to be (DS1) are staying with us atm, bridesmaids trying on dresses, headpieces etc. One bridesmaid (GD) managed to break her nose two days ago .

Bathroom suites? We have a 40yo cast iron bath in blue, it works better than most modern baths but looks old fashioned. I dont care!

CTC, I can root some of our strawb runners if you like, they're a mix of strawbs but might do ok. Trouble with strawbs is that unless netted the blackbirds here wolf them down at first hint of ripeness. Yet the Autumn Gold raspberries now ripe are left alone

Yep. Unless, like us, you do it right but then they move all the goalposts & leave you stuck.

    hi all

rhiwi....how cool is that... a BLUE iron barf... my big old iron barf [white] was "gifted " from the big house [written underneath...for the west lodge] so guessing its at least 1930's.. hasnt been called west lodge since pre ww2. i love it ..i can almost lay flat in it and its deep....hence im always "in the barf" :rotfl::rotfl:

ferret/rozee...do you just need another bathroom suite ? friend just bought another house which she will be emptying...and i mean emptying.;) i am like an old bloodhound following the builders to the skip on these occasions and can have anything. its usually all good stuff as the houses rack up a min £m price tag. anyway let me know of any interior accesories that may be of use that are leaving the house that i can rescue...:D

had to go get my plaster cast changed today as in the words of the nurse "youve DESTROYED it"!! ooops :rotfl:
