    Alfie.....

If you see this....thinking more about it, my tentative yes please is a very definite yes please to any carpet going. I'd like to replace that red monstrosity in our room that stinks, and if there is enough to do the landing and the old bathroom (that has to be and office for beaurocratic purposes this year) all the better. I also want to rip up the carpet on the stairs and front hall way ( smells of Tom cat)

I know you said there was a fair bit going spare.....would that be ok? Is there anything I can do in return? Btw I forgot to give you all the curtains and blinds back...I have them still!!

Alfie seems to have an endless supply of everything anyone could ever want :D

My OH wasn't keen on the allotment idea either, as our garden is a mess at the mo! But once we got our half plot and he got into it he's really keen now! :j It really is nice from a social point of view - I get to see some people now, which I didn't at all before, apart from family that is.

That is good to know! When I had my horse I spent a lot of time at the yard and there was always someone to chat to and things to keep me entertained. I miss that interaction and as money is going to be tight it seems like an affordable and productive way to pass the time. However I do appreciate that he would rather I spent my time and energy on our home and garden. It is a tricky one ;)

Rummer it does sound like you've made up your mind & if it isn't expensive to get a plot it would be wonderful interacting with others. I think it would be an incentive. But you'll have to work on Mr Rummer.

Stitching Witch it's good to see you here again.

Maggie I find kale a great plant & I give it to the hens in the Winter & sheep if there's loads.

LIR - Tom spray is such a pervasive stench. We've been so lucky with dear departed & black half Persian as they have never done owt in the place. I'm amazed as old survivor is so jiggered looking yet he goes out thru his cat flapper all day......and all night. When he comes back in during the night & pre running over our heads he sings a mournful sort of yowl, a sort of cross between a yodal, a retching noise & tuning up of bagpipes. No wonder I look dark under the eyes.

I've spent hours searching out the camera which hid itself under a tangle of washing, paper-work, & overdue library books. It's free listing for the w/e & Monday. I shouldn't be bothered as it's so slow, but there's always hope.

I got an email saying my royalties for an anthology I submitted to are due & my share is £3.71 for this year '...would I like to donate it to charity?' Everyone is being very righteous & saying what a good idea, but I aim to shock...............

Tomorrow is the local allotment open day and we are all going to have a nosey as it is the place that I have my name down for a plot. OH thinks it is madness to get a plot when we have so much space at home that is not being fully utilised and I can completely see his point. However I am thinking about it from a produce and a social point of view, it is still under (slightly heated) discussion.

Rummer do check whether you can join the allotment society without having a plot. Mine has a gardeners membership which gives access to all the goodies in the shop (very cheap seed potatoes for example) and to the minor sales of plants and produce. So plotters and gardeners tend to hang out together at certain times of the week.

Hehe, I don't know whether to be amused or mortified by my ineptness at letting you access the Building file, Dave, or anyone else for that matter. Good job I'm not the most private person.

I'm skim reading at the moment. Mum is here and it's frantic - more than usual :D

    Shakes head.

Summer is dying. Even my crazy silkies youths are in bed. They like to stay up late but they just popped them selves away while I was nibbling gooseberries. :(

I'm very impressed that my chooks put themselves to bed. It's comical to watch the trio of Pekin, Frizzle and Silkie all trot off in an orderly line to their house.

They don't do it 'til sundown, though....

Yes it is entertaining watching the chucks go to bed. They just lift up their heads and strutt off into the coops with such purpose. I recall a work collegue once complaing about having to chase her daughters chucks all round the garden to try and catch them up (her daughter was on her hols) not realising that the chucks would put themselves to bed if left till dusk. :D:D

Peed with rain here yesterday, nice today, forecast for downpours tomorrow. Brother and family arriving tomorrow afternoon - think of me ;).

Got email from surveyor - he has done the homebuyers for the house we are purchasing and his 'main concern' is that the bricks are made of calcium silicate and so prone to cracking (some repairs have already been made) :(. He said wait until I get the report tomorrow then ring him to discuss. Dang and blast - not really sure how serious it is for this property, and not much general info online. On the plus side the thermal insulation of calcuim silicate is good and Battersea Power Station was built from the stuff. On the minus side we now have an element of uncertainty.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
