    hi all

ferret/rozee...do you just need another bathroom suite ? friend just bought another house which she will be emptying...and i mean emptying.;) i am like an old bloodhound following the builders to the skip on these occasions and can have anything. its usually all good stuff as the houses rack up a min £m price tag. anyway let me know of any interior accesories that may be of use that are leaving the house that i can rescue...:D
That reads like a really interesting opportunity, thanks, Alf. What in particular might you be talking about? We are looking at light fittings at the moment, for example. Things like this cost a fortune, but I am quite minimalist in my tastes... We have no bathrooms, either. We need to fit 3. I've not even started looking at second hand possibilities but had a conversation with OH only last week along the lines of "once the kids are at school it will be my job to source things cheaply from whereever I can".... I was looking at a Falcon range on Preloved. A quarter of the retail price but in Wiltshire. Our problem thus far is being resricted in how far we can travel before we need the car back to pick up kids and how to transport things, but we do have the option twice a week now (kids will be at school) and at weekends, where we don't need the car and we also have the trailer.....

Pics of anything would be great. I'd also be interested in any high quality major appliances if they are not too old. In fact, most things, thinking about it - sorry to be so vague. I hate buying new and would rather buy quality secondhand owt.

Having been to the auction houses this week, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that anything we've stored in Sheffield isn't worth paying the transportation costs on, because all the quality items we left in the house for the tenants. We have a garage full of tat! So we are looking at moving into an empty house!

I have set my heart on an Everhot range but would be interested in any other electric type one (even as a fill in 'til we've saved up for an Everhot). Unfitted kitchen units, bedroom storage, wardrobes :D:D:D I live in hope.... Thanks for thinking of us, Alf love, you're one in a million x

Well things here are progressing. We're going on a six month "holiday" to warmer climes - one of the Spanish islands to be a bit more precise. I've done an online booking reservation for one of the flights and am waiting for them to get back to me before I book the other one. We're looking at leaving in 6 weeks - there's lots to do and with me still working for the moment time is limited. This weekend is set aside for moving our bedroom downstairs and our office into the same room - that'll be interesting!

    Wow Alex, sounds great :j

Well the tone of my day has just been set. My very affectionate cat jumped on the bed and snuggled in for a few mins and then jumped down and vomited right into my shoe  I am less than impressed.

Summer is dying. Even my crazy silkies youths are in bed. They like to stay up late but they just popped them selves away while I was nibbling gooseberries. :(

It was feeling distinctly autumnal here a few mornings ago....

A couple of our hens are very bad about going to bed, but two of the worst are dead, so there's a moral there somewhere.

We have more hen behaviour issues too. Yesterday, Dolly, who has been a passable Mum to the three Marans chicks, began pulling feathers from them to eat. :( She went back with the others and was promptly beaten-up. The chicks, which are old enough to cope now, took themselves off to bed and even perched correctly.

We have a couple of other feather-eaters, however, as the beak rings only work for a period, and then beaks adapt. I think it's Hatherleigh Market for them.
