Tiddlywinks wrote: »Pollycat - any chance of not turning this into an extension of your stalking of Notanewuser...
It's not clever, interesting or relevant to this thread.
Tiddlywinks - any chance of you and notanewuser stopping having a go at the OP?
If so, consider it a deal from my side.
I don't find your or notanewuser's comments clever, interesting or relevant to the subject of the OP's question either - just plain nastiness.
Incidentally, I'm not stalking.
notanewuser directed a question towards me in her last post, I was just commenting on that question.0 -
Do you think this is a nice thing to write?:
Have you never made a spelling mistake or grammatical error in one of your posts?
.
I make the odd mistake. Maybe in 1% of my posts I'd guess. (You're welcome to go through them and check if you want to.)
I've never ever used a comma instead of an apostrophe, and it is far from the norm for me to misspell something. Perhaps that's part of how I've managed to have jobs earning significant sums of money. Some constructive feedback for the OP, who is responsible for 3 children's homework and says she has paid lots of tax over the years (indicating a decent salary at some point), might help her get back into a good job. Don't you think?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Your often mentioned piles of money don't seem to have made you very happy.0 -

Don't I think?
I actually think if that's constructive feedback, I'd hate to see you being sarcastic & snidey.
It wasn't meant as constructive at all, you were just trying to make the OP look small.0 -
Tiddlywinks wrote: »The OP has described (in other threads) her son as being "mildly autistic".
Firstly, I accept that autism brings challenges but let's not go overboard about how much the OP might need to treat herself or how much more difficult her life is as a result.
People face challenges everyday... some see them as part if life, others see them more "opportunistically"...
Bloody hell -you really don't know what you are talking about do you ?It's clear you've never lived with a family member with "mild autism. I have-and still do- it's tough enough even without uninformed comments from the clueless.
As for opportunism -The charity concerned has certain criteria -if the OP and her family meet them - they'll get a voucher *towards* the cost of a holiday -If they don' t they won't. Their criteria is likely to be more reasoned, informed and balanced than some know-nothing keyboard warrior like yourself though !
I abhor the racist views expressed and the OP may be their own worst enemy in that respect but that doesn't mean that because one parent of an ASD child has stupid political views that the rest of us are only out for what we can get and have entitlement issues !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

This thread seems to have turned into a slanging match between a few posters. Whilst people may or may not agree on whether the OP should apply to a (government funded) charity for a holiday, it shouldn't turn into a row between posters.
The OP, whether anyone agrees or not, is entitled to apply to the family Fund. It will be up to the staff there to decide whether the OP's family qualifies, based on both income and the effect disability has on the family. As mild autism is the only disability mentioned, I have already stated that it is possible that the FF may decide not to grant anything to the OP, as most grants are awarded to those families whose children have quite significant needs. No matter what the needs, the families also have to be on an income below the rate set by the FF. I'm not sure of the current level of income, but it was £28,000, including all benefits (even DLA, which is usually disregarded).0 -
I too spent years & years of hard work to earn relevant qualifications to enable me to have a good career.
However, that was soon ripped to shreds when my middle son was born.
I expected to return to work, full-time, and for my life to continue in it's upward journey.
Instead of making lemonade with my lemons, i got dropped into a damn big vat of citric acid.
There is NO childcare for severely disabled children.
Without an income, the house went too.
If applying to a charity towards the cost of a holiday makes me a !!!!!!!!!!, then tough.....quite frankly. It takes roughly 18 months to even plan a holiday with research worthy of the FBI.
