Until I leave feedback first.
Is this not the wrong way to do things??? Surely I have completed my side of the bargain first? I should have the feedback left on me first?
Just wondering??

There is nothing that you can do. Feedback is optional so they technically don't have to leave feedback at all.
There is no wrong or right way to leave feedback, it is all down to the individual.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Personally, when I sell something I view feedback being left as confirmation that the buyer is happy with purchase, I will then leave feedback for them.0

I agree totally with you. When ive bought things in the past, ive paid for the item instantly. My side of the deal is done. You cant get a better buyer than that. But, most sellers refuse to leave feedback until you leave feedback. The excuse there is "the transaction isnt finished until the buyer has the item and is happy with it.". In reality this is actually because they dont want to leave you positive feedback until you do the same for them. So, if the item turns up damaged or isnt what you wanted, they refuse to sort it out and you leave them a negative, they will leave a retailitary negative out of spite, even though you were a top class buyer.
When i sell items i usually leave the buyer feedback as soon as they have paid and dont see why others cant do the same.
All kinda sucks to me really, but thats the way it is.0 -

True ....BUT my pal is a newbie (they get a hard time here!!!), they emailed the seller with name addy, phone number said they were intending on bidding etc. Sale went through fantasticaly, pal left feed back as is happy...BUT the seller has not done so.
So pal is still seen as newbie !!!! Though has made a large purchase (over £200) doing everything correctly! When you get into 10's or 100 it makes little difference but the difference between 0 and 1 is a chasm!!!!

Couldnt your pal send them a friendly email saying that he is very pleased with the purchase, has left feedback accordingly and could the seller please leave feedback too if he is happy also with the transaction? I do this if someone doesnt leave me feedback (sometimes they simply forget). If they dont want to after this then its up to them.0 -

Sorry but I can agree there ,there is more to being a buyer that just paying for it up front. You get people who will complain that they dont like the item, try to get discounts etc and a whole lot of issues that only occur once they have recieved the item .So it is only when they have recieved the item that you find out what type of buyer they really are .If someone pays instantly then trys to blackmail me for a discount when they recieve their goods, because maybe they dont like the colour, does that make them a good buyer ? You get scam buyers as well as sellers. So feedback should be left once the item has been recieved and then the transaction is complete.0 -
..........nope, as a seller myself, i never leave feedback untill I receive it.
the buyer is the one with the 'power' as cheques can bounce, threats made, chargebacks done, etc
once the buyer is happy, and transaction is finished, they leave feedback to say so.
as a buyer, as soon as i receive an item and am happy i leave feedback immediatleymoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Fair enough, but then you get a stand off. As the buyer doesnt want to leave feedback until the seller does and vice versa.
So, you would leave positive feedback if the buyer emailed you to say that they had receieved the item and was happy with it - but hadnt left you any feedback yet?0 -

No,
IF the buyer leaves feedback, ebay can clearly see they're happy, and so can all your other buyers!.
if they say something in an email, others cant see that now can they?, they could well leave a neg, which in all likleyhood ebay will NEVER removemoney saving my @rse.

I leave feedback once i know the buyer has recieved it ok and they are happy. Whether this is by email or feedback. All I am concerned about is that the transaction is complete and ok. Its worked fine for me. AS a buyer I will leave feedback to say I have rcieved it and am happy, if Im not happy I email and try to sort it out before I leave feedback.0
