Fair enough, but then you get a stand off. As the buyer doesnt want to leave feedback until the seller does and vice versa.

So, you would leave positive feedback if the buyer emailed you to say that they had receieved the item and was happy with it - but hadnt left you any feedback yet?
I leave feedback as soon as I know they're happy, which is usually by them leaving feedback for me. If they did email me to say they're happy them I would leave them feedback, but I've never had a buyer do that. But if I haven't heard from them and a long time has passed I'll leave feedback anyway, and that seems to prompt them to leave feedback for me.

I think that the buyer should always leave feedback first... give me a situation where you don't think this is the case and I'll change my mind ;)

Is this not the wrong way to do things??? Surely I have completed my side of the bargain first? I should have the feedback left on me first?

    Just wondering??

No - that's correct. Selling Manager Pro automates leaving positive feedback after the buyer has both paid for the item and left you positive feedback.

Sellers should not give feedback first, as otherwise buyers would just leave negative feedback for any issue without regard to trying to resolve the issue or communicate with the seller first. If they know you can still leave feedback too they will think twice before doing so.

And this is why the feedback system totally sucks one big fat one.

There is nothing worse than retalitory feedback left by an unhelpful, unco-operative, ignorant, horrible, seller. I've recently had my 100% feedback totally ruined by some idiot who blatantly LIED and made me look bad. All because I had the boolocks to leave the neg that they thoroughly deserved.

That's a risk you take leaving NFB. I get retaliatory feedback all the time from non paying bidders. Just a fact of doing business on Ebay.

nb - I get it all removed via Squaretrade - only 1 NFB so far in two years not in the process of being removed, or already removed.

As a seller, I used to leave feedback as soon as the buyer paid, but after a few occasions of buyers leaving neg that I didnt deserve, I changed to leaving feedback AFTER the buyer has.
Then I know they're satisfied, and if they leave a neg for no reason they get a neg back.

I'm pretty new to ebay (buying only) but I've already learnt that I don't get feedback until I've left it for the seller.

I always pay for items within minutes of the auction ending and add a note to my payment saying "I'll leave feedback as soon as I receive the item. Please e-mail me if there are any problems, thanks"

I then leave feedback as soon as I receive the item, as promised, and have got feedback from the seller almost immediately afterwards. They know that they can contact me if there's a problem with posting, so the lines of communication are open.....hopefully!
Just run, run and keep on running!

As a seller (mostly) my hubby used to leave pos fb as soon as buyer had paid for item then would post it but we had a couple of buyers then receiving the item and negging for something ridiculous as took too long to arrive (when it took 2 days)or didn't look like pic in the listing. So they had a pos and hubby had a neg for nothing really. So now hubby won't leave feedback till he has e-mailed the buyer asking if everything is satisfactory and then both go ahead with a pos. Also in a lot of cases buyers don't leave any fb at all.So they get a pos while hubby gets nothing.(I know this happens the other way round too so pls don't jump on me for that comment...lol...)

On hubbys sold list we are still awaiting payments for items sold 2 months ago.I say its a good job the account isn't mine coz they would all have NPB files and negs well before now! :D
