But that's precisely what you are doing!

'We fill our own bin up because we're too profligate with our waste. Luckily we can dump our excess in someone else's. Problem is, some other sod got there first'. :rotfl:

Perhaps they've seen you sticking stuff in there and assumed it was some collective neighbourhood free-for-all :D

You beat me to it, the irony wasn't lost on me either!

Our next door neighbour scaled our fence into our secure back garden to put a bag of the most mouldy sh*t I've ever seen in when we were out.

    Bin locks are a blessing.

However, I've gotta agree with the others here. Two weeks is obviously too long for you, so you've been putting your waste in someone else's (albeit family) bin. Isn't that surely what they're thinking too?

I do think it's pretty out of order if they're actually going -onto- your property or a secured area to dump it though. Imo when the bin is out on the street for collection, that's free for all.

OP, have you perhaps thought about either compostable or flushable cat litter in order to minimise what you're sending to landfill?

I find it quite amusing that you're so upset about somebody dumping "dog rubbish" and how disgusting it is but you are dumping "cat rubbish" in the same bin. Also not very fair on your parents as used cat litter stinks, and as someone who is used to cleaning up after cats and dogs I would rather clean up after dogs any day, doesn't smell half as bad as cats.

As mrsbutton said, "they don't fill there rubbish bin up so pop it at my back gate so I can pop the 1-2 bags I have over". Sounds like her in laws don't mind.
  • I ended up buying locks for my bin, ours had to stay out on the street even though it was a quiet side street we always ended up with other peoples rubbish in our bin.

My neighbour was the main culprit they once put their old Dyson in my Bin! I took it out and left it outside their front door which opened outwards.

In the end I rang the council who came out and we found their bank statements and all sorts in my bin. not sure what happened after that as we moved out a month later.

OP I have 2 cats and I cannot begin to imagine emptying the entire litter tray every day! Unless I mis-understood and you do what I do, which is I take out the !!!! everyday and maybe some of the litter if it is damp, then I put a little talc powder over the remaining pretty much clean litter and then it is ok for another few days (providing I keep removing the !!!! each day)

Unless your cats are fussy, in that case I can understand the need to do it every day (1 of my cats used to go in my handbag if I forgot to freshen the litter tray - this was enough to help me never forget again!)

I have to confess that when I was a student I did dump my garbage in other peoples wheelie bins. I did this because I couldn't afford to pay for a new bin and I only ever dumped in someone's bin if it wasn't full.

I think its out of order if someone did it when the bin is already full risking the bin men not actually emptying it.

Now i've grown up a little I wish I just stopped in one night and put the money towards a new bin. But hey, the things you do when you are young right?

Agreed. We only get a small wheelie bin, and for a family of 4 that's not much. I fill it every fortnight, and I have a child still in nappies full-time and a rabbit that gets it's hutch cleaned every 3 days.
If you recycle and compost, it's easy to halve what goes in the black bin.
