Putting rubbish in other peoples bins?

So, our bins go out every 2 weeks now which it annoying and discusting..... Anyway, I'm very lucky that my Mother & Father in law live over the road & they don't fill there rubbish bin up so pop it at my back gate so I can pop the 1-2 bags I have over.
Tonight I went to put my bags in to find that next door had put there rubbish in! Please note they have dogs & the bags were full of dog rubbish which my in laws don't have which is not very fair for them! And the fact it was in my gateway not on the street would show that in was still within my property. Personally I wouldn't dump in someone else's bin as I don't think it's fair, plus If I make the bin too heavy it won't be emptied. What's everyone elses views on this???

Could it be that the neighbours with the dogs have seen you putting your rubbish in someone else's bin (they may not know you are related) and decided to get in first? I wouldn't do it but lots do if they know the bins aren't full.

Other houses on the street sometimes put their rubbish in my bin. Which I don't like mainly because they don't wrap it well and I end up having to wash the bin out but also because it's my bin, use your own!
However as I think it's more than one house that does it, I can't really tackle anyone about it.

A couple of times I was fairly sure it was the next door neighbours, and as on balance they're good neighbours, take my parcels in for me etc and if they'd asked I'd probably have said yes, so I decided it really wasn't worth falling out about.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Just a thought but maybe you should try recycling more so you don't have to offload your rubbish into your relatives bins?!

My bin gets taken every 2 weeks as well, and whilst it was hard to get used to at first, it is very rarely full anymore because I recycle so much.

we are having to pay for garden waste bin emptying from Jul 1st ... just waiting for the first time someone dumps their garden waste in our bin grrr
  • Happened to friends of mine so they now lock their wheelie bin.

I did see a neighbour of mine once put some of his rubbish in my bin. So I went and took it back to him.

My one and only bin (no recycling ones) is behind a locked gate until I put it out for collection

Thanks for all your replies! They do know we are related & you cab clearly see it was at our garden gate. I do recycle, my recycle bin is now full & it was emptied last week. The problem I have it I have cats and change there litter everyday which causes my bin to be full & there is no space for my other rubbish. I wouldn't fall out with them over it I just found it rude, and unfair to people who don't want dog rubbish in there bin. I wouldn't put my cats rubbish in anyone else's bin, it's just a bit rude in my eyes!

Frugelhorn, I feel your pain, I shall be throwing it back in there garden if I see anyone putting there garden rubbish in mine!

Thank you for the vent guys!

Happens in our street as well - luckily, we live in a block of 3 flats with a side gate that's over 6ft tall, so I now lock the bins back there and bring them out on collection day, like oldgrumpygit.

But that's precisely what you are doing!

'We fill our own bin up because we're too profligate with our waste. Luckily we can dump our excess in someone else's. Problem is, some other sod got there first'. :rotfl:

Perhaps they've seen you sticking stuff in there and assumed it was some collective neighbourhood free-for-all :D
