Universal jobmatch

Today I had a jobseeker direction interview where the advisor was scare mongering me into signing up by saying it is mandatory. I challenged this and asked for the legislation to prove it was madatory, he searched the internet and found nothing. The best he had was may require unless exceptional circumstances. So i called him a hypocrite for his actions.

Now i am fully aware of debauchery with DWP after serving the most incredible sanction you will ever see. So i do not want to be a victim of saving the public purse again.

Can anyone tell me what i have to do to stay within the rules but not to have my privacy breached? I really can not believe i can be forced to surrender my privacy and allow people to snoop on me. Surely this breaches EU human right laws? Another thing is, why should i allow tracking cookies from universal jobmatch on my computer? I am allowed to not accept these but then i can not use the site.

Give me legislation anyone? I feel oppressed by this, slavery was abolished but now i feel i have to jump through hoops to survive.

It should not be about jumping through hoops, as claiming JSA is not about looking for loopholes, its meant to be about getting out of a hole and back into work. The key field in claiming JSA, is the Job Seeking aspect.

  • I've just been signed off JSA, and never had any problems with signing on (despite my early fears that my adviser was a bit of an old trout who was determined to make me cry at every meeting). I allowed my adviser to have full access to all the information they asked for, and as such, never spent longer than about 45 seconds at a normal signing on meeting.

In general (and I appreciate that this may not be the case in all job centres), I found that, if you are pleasant and polite to the staff, and don;t give them grief about having to do their job, then they treat you with the same respect. It's one of those little rules in life that makes it easier for us all to get up in the morning and face the world, surely?

I still fail to see what the issue is with allowing staff to have access to your UJM record, IF you are following the agreement you signed. It saves carrying around illegible written records of job searches (illegible in my case because my writing is like a chicken scrawl), or printing off screeds of emails and bits of paper. If they can access your account - it's all there. What's the issue?
  • I thought debauchery was corrupt ie debauch my bad :o I am not against using universal jobmatch i am against the invasion of privacy. You are aware once you tick that box they are snooping 24/7? I used the site before with my uploaded CV and it was matching me to jobs i had no chance of getting and because it matched me i had to apply. Seriously 1 was for a female PA, another for drug rehabilitation support worker and loads of dodgy ones asking me to email copies of my passport and NI number. The system is not secure! So for all those who say i am not looking for work, i am i'm just not looking for jobs i know i can't get but i'll have to apply for or be sanctioned.

you are receiving public funds to support yourself.
the pay off is that you do what they tell you when they tell you to do it.
if you dont agree, you always have the option to sign off.

if your methods of jobhunting were so successful then you wouldnt still be signing on would you?

This is nonsense. Do you really think someone sits there checking what you are doing on the internet? (Hint: The answer is no.)
