nannytone you are obviously someone who is willing to let others walk all over you. I will register for the site no problem but i am not being madated to allow third party access. Do you not see the infringment here? If i knew who was looking no problem, but universal jobmatch runs on an american server operated by monster.

i can assure you that i am not.

You seem paranoid. There will be no more information about you on the universal jobmatch site than caould easily be found elsewhere

    not at all.

I made a comment in answer to the op.
You are the one that felt the need to go totally off topic by posting a comment that made no sense or had no relevance.
Still if it helps you get through the day ....

Did you tell them you will not accept cookies, they should then tell you what they/you can do to alleviate your reasonable & genuine concerns.

You should make this clear to the advisor, they should then investigate DWP guidance & come up with a solution.

And of course you do not need to give DWP access to your account.
    .

    John539's comment is correct.

There's printed DWP guidance. If you google Universal Jobmatch Toolkit you should find it online.

I think there is something in what you say. There are massive issues around IT and security and Governemtnt use of personal data/messaging/emails etc - there was an hour devoted to it today on radio 4. There is an issue of trust of course- the DWP not trusting jobseekers and jobseekers not trusting DWP (as agent of a Govt that is ensuring that the benefit bill is cut at whatever cost) and again, do we trust the Govt enough to have a blanket look at our personal access to websites etc and to use it effectively?

My biggest issue is that as a job website it's just not that good. I've yet to find a job on there that I would consider applying for. You can't even search on salary for goodness sake. There are a couple of other websites that target my sector/job which are far more useful.

Yesterday, I had to spend a painful 15 mins with my advisor who went through jobs she thought I should apply for. They were either miles away or £20,000 less than I was earning before. She clearly had no concept or understanding of my experience.

I wouldn't mind so much but I'm demonstrating that I'm getting interviews in my chosen location, chosen salary & chosen industry by my own methods.

It is a terrible site. I don't know why they think it's the answer to finding a job.

It's more of a hindrance, than a help to my job search!

One of the biggest problems I've had with this site is the fact I've had days where I've been unable to log in at all, if I'm not down as logging in enough I can be sanctioned, also some of the recommended jobs have been over 50 miles away, and I had one for a staggering 2 hours a week, miles away and must be flexible.

The thing I've wondered is how do people that don't have Internet access manage? I was told that if I didn't I could book 30 mins at the library, fair enough but what happens if in those 30 mins I can't log in? I do have Internet access, but I know some people don't so it got me thinking.

I was also told that if I ticked the privacy box then I'd be sanctioned.

I don't think they can sanction you for not allowing access. It was mentioned on another thread.

I was told that if I ticked the privacy box it meant they wouldn't be able to look at what I'd been up to so that would actually give them the right to sanction me.

I don't know then. I did a quick search but can't find the thread. It was in the last 2 months that someone posted about it.

It's crazy that the DWP are putting so much importance on that site. I've been applying for several jobs a week for a few months and only a couple have been advertised on UJM. So even if I gave them access, they still wouldn't be able to see what I am up to.

I also find it ridiculous that they take the paper job search record as 'proof'. People who are avoiding looking for work can write anything to keep the advisers happy.
