I gave up dieting on 19th December last year. I decided i'd never count calories again, but just eat sensibly and weigh myself every 6 months instead.
I went 7 months without weighing, calorie counting, fretting about dieting, and when i did weigh, i had lost exactly a stone :)
Giving up the dieting mentality is the best thing i have ever done!

i just eat reasonably healthy, but always allow myself treats. I try to eat intuitively now and it works well!

Wow - well done! Whenever I stop calorie counting I put on a stone....sounds like you've now got a really sensible attitude to food.
Spent £8.40 on MAIN shop in Mr T :D

    Now that IS impressive!!

I spent £1.96 today in Mr S as we needed some toilet rolls. Had a look at the YS stuff but all still v.expensive so just one item bought! Oh and day 1 of no kitchen - LO shepherds pie and carrots - very nice it was too.

  • *note to self, never take OH with me for a "top up shop" because he doesn't understand the meaning of "essentials!"
I needed a few bits yesterday from Homebargains, Aldi & Lidl and as I've just had 3 operations I'm not allowed to lift anything for at least 3 months, I took OH with me. A small spend in HB of £7.54 then off to Aldi for some fresh fruit and veg, milk etc. Anyway as soon as we reach yoghurts OH reaches for fools, mousses etc Honestly I can't keep up with him! I told him that he's had his quota for this week and this was a top up shop not a full weekly shop!!!! He was very good and put them back but if he was in charge of our food budget I dread to think how bad it'd be. Anyway, still £22.25 spent in there :( Then on to Lidl for my diet Pepsi, my one vice and a few other bits on offer so a further £13.07 spent in there, oh my goodness I think we're going to have to be very inventive for the rest of our "month" with £89 left of the budget. Luckily all the fridges, freezers and cupboards are heaving so whilst me may go over a little it should be a far cry from previous month's spending (I hope!?) Anyway, off to update signature in a mo x

Popping on to update spends - £150.42 / £175. Month only running to Sunday as well, so no big shops left to do.It's been spookily easy to stick to budget this month and I can't work out why! All I'll really need is milk and salad I think. I haven't even had any deliveries this month, just gone to local Mr M as I've not needed much and tbh been a bit fed up of deliveries.

Worried next month will be more difficult so might pick up the meat Ineed for next week before the budget change since I have £25 left - free range chicken is on offer at Mr M anyway, so will get one I think, plus maybe a gammon joint as the cooked, sliced ham in the freezer is getting low. Plus might get a bag of onions and potatoes, again just to do us next week. I'll have a think about what I need.

    Mealplan as follows:

Sun 18 - out for dinner (voucher, treated by OH for birthday)
Mon 19 - griddled seabass with roasted veg, lemon & coriander rice and salad (only had to buy salad and the seabass - a pricey treat since we had so much budget left!)
Tues 20 – duck and cherry tomato pasta with garlic bread (duck from freezer)
Wed 21 – chickpea loaf with veg and bread (cooked chickpeas from freezer & veg in fridge)
    Thurs 22macaroni cheese with broccoli
Fri 23 – out for dinner (with grandparents, who'll pay)
Sat 24 – HM Thai turkey burgers with chips and salad (burgers from freezer, potatoes in stock)
Lunches - butter bean and cabbage soup for me; tuna or ham sandwiches for OH
