Have shopped both yesterday and today. Yesterday was top up shop of fresh stuff and today some bits I needed for making a Slimming World taster for tomorrow morning. Spent £14.57 yesterday and another £9.73 today.

I've now spent £180.51 so far this month and have £68.47 left which is doable.

Bornagainshopaholic - nope I never ever feel anything but pure joy when buying something for 9p! I reckon I'm doing them a favour... I wouldn't want them to chuck it away and waste it instead :-)

That is a good point Puddickle, stuff does just get chucked out if nobody claims it, and sometimes businesses have to pay for rubbish collection don't they? I do hate waste, so that does make me feel better!

NSD number 11 but there is a possibility that tomorrow we are going to the Chinese warehouse and if so will certainly spend something. One part of me doesn't want to go but the other does :) Not been for ages.

Been busy today and made some bread and two quiches. One cheese, tomato and onion and the other cheese, onion & bacon. We had some of the tomato one today with salad and will finish it off tomorrow for lunch.
Left them in a little bit too long really but never mind. Second one has been put in the freezer for another day.

I am not the best pastry chef in the world (have tried loads of different ways) it tastes lovely and short but to me is actually too short.

Not a fan of black pudding either although DH and DS love it. I can eat a small piece but that's it. the surprise pudding sounds nice.

Why do you say you left them in too long? Look absolutel perfect to me.

Glad you feel better about it, I never feel bad at getting really cheap stuff and often share what I get with family and neighbours. Also have just started to donate to a food bank, took 10 tins of the 4p mushy peas today.

This makes me feel really good, share the love so to speak and help
someone who is not as fortunate as me.

Just popping on to say I'm pleased to have not spent anything on groceries since the weekend and won't be buying anything now until Sunday, I will be away for a few days so that helps.

Been a double whammy as have been working hard on the make £10 a day challenge at the same time, I've paid for a will, car insurance and a new tyre in the last week and will have to buy a new washing machine next week so cutting down on groceries has been very welcome!

  • I did a big shop today and stocked up on meat and fish. Also got some snacks for DS for work as I've not been giving him enough food he says and he has been spending in Te**o express lunchtime to top up. I sent him with a big home-filled sub and a pot of green pesto pasta today-the pesto was home made. I gave him bread and jam a couple of times for a desert and he was a bit surprised cos it was "really" nice. Well-it was last years homemade jam that's why! I am going to do him savoury rice with chicken breast-I bought a pack of breasts and 2 packs of rice in Iceland today. I also got some individual pots of tuna with ring-pull tops(3 for £1) which will be good for lunches as it won't make everything smelly from making it until lunchtime. I will do some pasta mayo to mix with the tuna or with chicken-sweetcorn-red peppers. I've got a few ideas. I've bought a piece of beef also as much better value than buying it ready cooked and sliced. I have my electric slicing machine for that!
I cooked pasta in my rice cooker last night but put too much water in so still had to drain it but it was excellent for stirring in the pesto and keeping it warm for an hour and a half until DS came home! I will experiment until I get it right!!!I've updated sig and average food spend is £47 which includes a few cans of cat food as treats. I've also included the loo rolls and WU liquid so its even less if just our food! Menu planning the first 2 weeks made a massive difference as I've only just stocked up. We haven't had loads of meat tho which some people would miss-personally I only like to eat meat about twice maybe three times a week with maybe a little ham on a sandwich also.DD did some cooking last week and listened to me for the cottage pie and only put in a half pack(250g)of mince and some lentils(those orange things:rotfl:)She also made 2 apple crumbles with our apples from the tree and homemade pizzas.I actually come on the Grocery challenge to firstly eat better, secondly to save money! At no time in the 3 or 4 years(I think)that I have been on here do I feel I have suffered in any way or had anything secondrate in the way of meals. We have just got a dog but have enough dried food for 6 months given to us by rescue centre and my neighbour.:j:j:j:j:j:j My shopping done for a few days-now looking forward to NSDs!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
