Is it a treat then to feed your cats,I thought you were supposed to do that, or do you mean you have bought a more treaty kind of food for them than you would normally have done?

Why do you say you left them in too long? Look absolutel perfect to me.

Thanks Meg but the eggs seemed to set if that's the right word! The filling had no 'wobble' to it. :)

Went to the Chinese warehouse today but only spent £7.14 on some vinegar, black pepper corns and a sauce. They were reorganising everything and had a lot of items in the back waiting to be put on the shop floor.

Just sorted next weeks menu plan and now off to do shopping list. Fingers crossed its a short one.

I did wonder about that, lol!

Yesterday we went to HB and spent £7.79, then i*eland where we spent £5.50 and also bought a pack of maryland 'gooey' biscuits in £1 shop, which was very naughty as myself and OH are on a diet, but we are only having 1 biscuit each per day, whereas normally we would have finished the pack within 10 minutes, lol!

Not sure about ths but I think quiche is supposed to set,if you have a look at those really expensive ones in M and S they are really set. also if you intend to reheat then I think you will get the effect you want.

Personally because of the scare about eggs I would always overcook rather than under. Anyway as I said yours look perfect to me

  • £1 on more milk in Mr S - going through it quickly these last few weeks!

Day 3 of no kitchen, last night was a lovely chicken and chorizo paella hubby made a couple of weeks ago and was frozen. Tonight was homemade lasagne out the freezer. Salad both nights too - was fun washing the lettuce it in the bathroom sink, lol. Remind to buy it pre-washed next week!

I am declaring August spends at £288.93 as I get paid tomorrow. I am a little bit:D and a lot :j as this is on average £150 less than I have been spending each month this year. This figure actually includes 4 takeaways and a two course Sunday lunch for guests

I started the month intending to use up stocks which I have done but we had a lot less usable meat than we thought so have still had to buy quite a bit this month.

I have been doing the GC since about 2009 and I think this is the lowest I have ever achieved and includes a toddler we didn't have back then:). I think I might just have cracked it;):D

I have been meal planning, sticking to my list and only buying what I needed, I haven't been stocking up except on baked beans on offer. I have dropped a brand (to basics quite often) and only bought items when we had completely run out. I have used up leftovers and odds and ends of cans etc and have wasted a lot less. I have also said no to DH when he has suggested nipping to M&S or wherever saying I have made something or I am looking forward to what's on the mealplan;)

DH and I both feel we have eaten better than usual and I have cooked risotto and chicken Kiev for the first time:)

For September we are aiming for £250.00. Not a massive reduction from where we are this month but we have run out of a lot of toiletries and some basic staples but will off set this by cutting down on the takeaways.

I am determined that this wont be a one off and that I can consistently stick to a budget of £200-£250 for 2 adults, 1 3 year old with a big appetite and a small dog for everything excluding alcohol.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
