So we spoke to her today. Turns out weed isnt all she does. She has been taking recreational drugs for 6 years.

We talked to her for a few hours, it went well as in she was open, no one argued we just listened.

She has said she has no intention of stopping and thinks we are being unreasonable for not wanting it in the house.

She grew up around drugs and cant seem to see a problem with having them about

Personally I'll say iused to smoke cannabis, from around age 18-23 or so, it's farily normal to experiment. An adult discussion about it's effects etc would probably be on the cards.

Also if she is to persist (which you cant really stop) then to say not to bring it to the hosue and certainly not available to the younegr children is a house rule.

But millions of people smoke it and end up fine, the chances are small of any long term effects.

Well it's your house, your rules.

Rule 1: if you find it, you flaush it. Simple.

    It's worth reading this :- http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/cancer-help/about-cancer/cancer-questions/does-smoking-cannabis-cause-cancer#evidence

Our friends who died with COPD did not smoke cigarettes, and were not exposed to heavy or sustained atmospheric pollutants. But all four of them smoked weed.

Once again, I reiterate, any mind-changing substances taken in excess can be a ticking time-bomb.

I am under no illusion that any smoke inhaled into your lungs can be nothing but bad news but it wasn't the mind altering effects that caused their death it was inhaling smoke.

I have done every drug known to man..I just stopped one day.....A bit of weed really is nothing and its the prescription drugs that you really need to be worried about..
I love the way some slip in words like mind altering...Just like alcohol?
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Well done for having a reasonable conversation with her so many parents don't and it leads to more harm than good.
My dh's mum once found a tiny bag of weed in his pocket and became hysterical, sobbing and wailing, it did nothing but make him feel angry and totally disconnected from his parents.
I on the other hand had a totally different experience with my mum, only twice did my drug use ever come up, once when I took far too many mushrooms and totally freaked out. I had to wake her up in the middle of the night and confess what I had done, she was wonderful, she sat with me all night and saw me through it. The next day there were no recriminations no anger, she simply said, well you'll think twice before doing that again, and I did, i never touched them again.
The second time was after a very heavy speed session at Bowlers, I was sat in the living room talking ten to the dozen, thinking she had no idea, til she told me to go to bed and sleep, if thats possible with all the speed you've taken!
She had the same attitude with all her daughters and not one of us has ever had a problem with drugs despite much experimentation.

I smoked weed for a short amount of time when I was younger (I am 28 now) no amount of telling me would have made me listen dispite having mental health issues in my Dads side through drug and alcohol which now I think was very stupid of me; but you live and learn.

I think if you find it in the house you get rid as the posters have said above. That is what my Mum should of done but she just shouted at me which did nothing.

How is she funding them? Am I right in thinking she's been out of work until recently?

My view would be my house my rules, if she doesn't like it she could find alternative accomodation.

I'm sorry this has happened to your son but have to ask is he in rehab purely for smoking weed or are other substances involved, I'm curious as I have never heard of anyone going into rehab for smoking weed.

Hi , i think my sons problem has stemmed from the young age when he started using weed, his brain had`nt developed properly , he used other stuff in the last couple of years which made him worse.I firmy believe he had to reach rock bottom before he asked for help, and he did !xx
