A friend of mine's son has a lazy eye (he's just turned 2) and he was given glasses to wear. They were told to encourage him to wear them as often as possible for as long as possible until he got used to them. The first time they put them on he just pulled them off, so his mum just put them to one side without making a fuss, then later tried them on again. It's been a slow process but he now gets to the point where he forgets he's wearing them. Granted he doesn't have the fear of anything on his face but he didn't want them on either. I think my friend was given better advice than "force her" so I just wanted to share that not all eye doctors are sadistsGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

I had glasses as a toddler so did my brother and sister. My mum struggled with my brother, she said it took a good 3 months for him to get used to it but both my sister and I loved them as we could see better instantly. My sister's eyes improved, she doesn't need any now, my brother needs it for watching telly and I have contact lenses permanently [STRIKE](yep, I got the !!!!!! gene in the family)[/STRIKE].
You just need to be persistent I guess, or ask google for some tips?0 -
Thanks for the tiny glasses advice guys. Next step is taking her to get them, think I might persuade NIM to come with me, one of us can distract the screaming toddler while the other tries to try a few frames on her.
I clearly missed the post Tete, but was it workwear you're after? I just got these bits on asos for my new workwardrobe so linking them in case they appeal to you too. Dress 1, shirt 1 Dress2 (dress 2 is actually going back as it's too small, but it does look like it would be gorgeous if you didn't have a size so tight you had to wiggle to walk!).Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ooh yes very nice! Love dress 1 but my concern would be that it would be too short for me in the front - I think I've seen dress 2 myself (spotty one, have I got them the right way round?!) whilst browsing and had considered it actually - how too small is it? Would I need to go up a size? Also love that jacket Birdie, love the spotty lining
Not so much the dress, although it'll certainly create a memorable impression..! I think I really need to get my bum round the shops as there's no substitute for trying stuff on, and having to wait for deliveries then send stuff back all the time gets a tad wearing. Today I'm debuting my new blouse in the office - no-one has mentioned it
but I love it!
I'm another fan of kids in specs - soooo cute!! Hope you manage to sort something that will work for Gracie as well as her eyes
Wendz, loving the sound of the LED dance floor, didn't realise such things were hire-able!

Oooh you look nice today Tete, is that a new blouse???
Totally agree that you can't beat actually going shopping. You just can't tell what the fabric will be like, the fit, length, true colour etc online! If it's a patterned item I like to pick out the 'best' one too, can't do that online!
I'm going to have to buy some bump friendly work wear soon, like this weekend!I seem to have expanded this week and struggling big time for clothes that fit comfortably and hide the belly!

Thanks Birdie, yes it is!!
It's actually very roomy too! Ha I do that with the patterns! I also try to make sure I get things with secure buttons, decent zips and so on ... or find the one with a button missing (but spare intact) and get myself 10% off :money:

Lol at the workwear earlier, Birdie!
Tete, lovely blouse
Dinah, I love dress 1 especially. :j
I'm also not an online clothes shopper. And about 18 months ago I made a rule to buy things that go together in pairs or threes, as I had all these clashing orphaned bits. Now I just go into H and M and try stuff on about 4 different times and stay in there until I have found something that looks good on. The stuff I really like never looks good, so I have to buy something else. I am very envious of you Tete, because you have a real personal style.

My work-wear wardrobe consists of lots of dresses and cardigans in every colour to go with them! I even ended up buying 5 in a lot on ebay once because they were all colours I didn't have yet!
I have no suggestions on how you can get Grace to keep glasses on but I am another one who thinks they look adorable on children.
Went to see Book of Mormon last night, it was hilarious but some of the language was a bit extreme shall we say. Still it was very enjoyable and OH enjoyed it especially since it was his birthday present!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
