Congratulation on your purchase and may the sale and move go smoothly for you and your family. The house looks lovely and when you knock the kitchen and dining room into one, it will be the house of your dreams.

I would remove the link to the house on an earlier post, as some idiot on here may decide to visit you and think it was funny.

This is a similar house in the suburbs of London.

Thanks all , thing is , when i told my wife that the vendors were on here and thought i was slagging them and their house off and we would never get it now regardless , she was very very unhappy (thanks wannahouse lol) so if i was to play brinkmanship for the sake of £750 , the difference between our £176250 and their counter offer , and lose the house , i think i would have been getting over friendly with the sofa...

I have a firm some old school friends work for who have a good local reputation , so all being well , the stud wall removal should be doable for a decent price

Its a long termer , so even if we decided to move on in 5 years , what we spend on it now , will at least `keep` its value current , which is all we can ask really , no ones going to move the west coast main line for us so it is what it is...

Again , thanks for all advice , really appreciated

Huge congratulations to you and the family, Dan-Dan. I still think they were absolutely ridunkulous for quibbling over that extra 2 grand after all the messing around they pulled. I suspect you were bang on about the issue being the psychology of it. Either way, I think you've got a cracking deal which will keep the wife sweet. What more could you ask for :-P
