I think this would start to annoy me a bit. They appear like they really want to sell their house, they have no interest at all apart from you but they seem to be willing to risk losing the sale over a small amount. I think by now the onus is on them to be accepting the offer on the table, rather than continually naming higher amounts despite the fact you aren't budging.
But still, you've got them down to 177k despite the fact they insisted on 180+, you can either stick to your price and know it will drag on for a bit longer if they are going to eventually budge, or just think about meeting the price (or meeting halfway at 176k) to get the deal done.
I'd find it funny if you really liked the new house and were happy to get a deal done and completely walked away from this one. Even better if it was for 177k (assuming it is worth more).0 -
Well guys , its been a hell of a day , we went to see the other place but it didnt tick enough boxes , tiny garden , fascia rotten all round the back roof area , a small drain full of water by the conservatory (it hasnt rained here in 5 days) , lovely otherwise , anyway , upshot is , we have agreed a deal on our house as posted earlier in the thread at 177
We feel good about the deal , and dont feel we have overpaid as it is a long term family home , we know the vendor feels good because he got back more than he paid for it , but after viewing many many houses , most £20 k more than we agreed on this one , this is the one we have plumped for
wish us luck!
thanks for all tips and advice , all appreciatedNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
