With any luck no news here is good news. I very much hope that Gemma and her partner are out celebrating her being told that all is well.

Sorry for double posts. The GP said today that he will try and lance? the cyst but I might need an operation to cut it out as he feels it won't go away on its own. Feel happy now. Although my boyfriend is treating me like something really precious and breakable.

I'm so relieved Gemma to read this. I had a lump scare years ago, it was nothing at all but I will never forget how terrified I was... By a bizarre coincidence a good friend also found a lump at about the same time as me; hers was a small but non-malignant tumour, easily removed. She had surgery and it was gone in a trice. She did say it was painful afterwards, and she wished she'd been warned that aspirin wouldn't really be enough. I really hope it goes very well for you. And don't be afraid of asking for pain relief...

I have cysts regularly lanced (aspirated is the technical term) by my GP - they use local anaesthetic but just don't look as they use the needle! It is quick and no lasting effects.

They may not need to do localised surgery so try not to worry about that unless and until that situation arises.

Hi Gemma - I have been reading your thread and thought it prudent not to post anything until you had your results. The whole process of finding a lump, going to the GP, having tests, waiting for results really is a very tough, emotional time. I wasn't as lucky and was diagnosed with breast cancer on 15 May. I am just 42 years old. I had breast pain (which I have been told countless times I shouldn't have with cancer - but I sure do have it). Surgery on Monday, then chemo, then radiotherapy, drug therapy and regular screening......but you know I would urge anyone to go to their GP if they find a lump, mine was so small I almost never went.....I dread to think how different this could all have been if I had left it.....my tumour is a high grade (fast dividing) invasive (in my lymph nodes) and I consider myself the luckiest person for being vigilant and going to my GP. I am so pleased for you that its just a cyst, and thank you for starting the thread, the more people aware the more likely they are to go to their GP......and potentially save their life. xx
