If your boyfriend loves you his reaction will be to think about you, not himself.

You're getting so panicky you're not thinking clearly tbh. Take it from someone who's been there that's also old enough to be your mum, they won't turn you away. The NHS may be overworked and underfunded but it's still there for our good and 99% of the staff are doing their level best to give their patients the best service they can. The bad cases and the bad staff are very much the tiny minority but when it comes to reporting the service there's not a lot of folk posting "Wonderful, gave me an appointment that very day." Even though thirty people phoned up and did get an appointment it will be the one that phoned up and couldn't get an appointment at 4.35pm that day with the exact doctor they wanted for a verucca or something that will complain the most. Trust me on this.

Why not tell the boyfriend? One minute you're wanting his support if you have to be referred for treatment but you don't want to ask for his support now? What's that about then? If the shoe was on the other foot, wouldn't you want to know about his worries?

I'd be straight on the blower to my husband. That's what you do when you love someone - you support them. I reckon your bf would be really upset to think that you've been upset all weekend and not given him the opportunity to help.

I really don't want him to worry until I know. He would "skip" work and come home straight away and get in trouble at work, I want him to be there but not until I know whats happening.

    Thanks for your support :)

I am just really nervous that the receptionist will make me wait weeks for an appointment and I'll be driven crazy with worry :(

I will be dialing 5 minutes before they open and keep trying until they answer.

Gemma, how easy would it be to go to the surgery in person so you are there for opening time ? Tell the receptionist what the problem is - only the hardest faced person could refuse to squeeze you in on the day.

Try to get some sleep tonight.

Go and eat something even if it's just a bit of toast and tinned tomato soup. (This is my kids' favourite not well food). Otherwise you could end up fainting at the GP's tomorrow from a combination of adrenaline and low blood sugar, and that would be a tad embarrassing, no?

I ended up having some bits to eat and tried to sleep. I'm up now as I can't sleep anymore :(
