I know I have to go to the doctors on Monday for this
I found a lump on my breast and I am panicing. I know it'll be nothing but it scares me somewhat.
Sorry for going on. Just needed to let it out.

It's normal to be scared and going to the doctors is the right (and brave!) Thing to do. Good luck x xMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Thanks
Just scary thinking about it.0 -
Most lumps aren't cancer and far scarier not to have found it.
Good luck.0 -
I know, I just want it away. Just hope the doctor can see me monday!0

You absolutely do need to go to the doctors and get it checked, but remember that there are lots of different types of breast lumps and most of them are not cancerous and not a massive problem.
Deep breaths, cross each bridge as you come to it, and most of all well done for self checking and catching it!0 -
OK, try not to panic.
I am 30 and found two lumps on two different occasions a couple of years ago. Turned out they were just sebaceous cyst. The latest one I found was on on my aerola and the nurse said it was just a spot under the skin.
The lumps I did find, well, I did not find them, my bf did! I check mine when as often as I can now.
Do you notice any changes in the breast, any discharge from the nipple, has it changed shape, any pain?
How old are you, is there a history of breast cancer in your family? This is what the GP and consultant dr may ask.
The good thing is, the GP will examine you and if necessary, they will refer you within 2 WEEKS to the mammary department in the hospital.
The first time I was referred when I found a lump and was worried out of my mind, I just overdosed on green tea and the lump went on its own, however, it could have been a simple cyst and my mind was thinking the worst!DEBTFREE AND PROUD!!0 -
You are not going on at all OP. Of course you feel scared and panicked after finding a lump. You are taking the right action by going to see your gp. He/she will be able to advise you further and make referrals so this can be thoroughly investigated. A dear friend of mine faced this same worry last year but all turned out to be okay in the end and it wasn't what she had feared. I am sending you a huge (((HUG))) because I bet you could do with one right now. Take care and please let us know how you get on.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I'm 23 and there isn't any cancer in my family that I know off. It's not my regular GP as I am registered now at another GP who I've never seen before. As for changes, None of what you said. No changes really.
I do need a big hug. So thank youI know it'll be a cyst or spot or something Just can't help but panic.

It is really scary, you think the worst, and until you've seen the GP you won't know the situation. I remember sitting outside my GP's surgery, crying with relief after coming out of my appointment. He had referred me to the clinic at hospital because they routinely did that, but had put my mind at rest about his diagnosis (cyst).
What you are feeling is completely normal. Good luck with the appointment.0 -
Statistically something like 80 per cent of lumps investigated are benign - that's no help though when you are feeling the panic and shock that you are feeling right now.
I've been there three times now and had four lumps investigated and aspirated over the past three years (most recently 2 weeks ago) and every time the doctor has been so kind in allaying my fears and getting me seen by the hospital within two weeks. The staff in the hospital will know and understand your feelings so you will be in the best possible care.
You are breast aware and that is the best way to be - Monday you can start the ball rolling - until then look after yourself.
SwampyExpect the worst, hope for the best, and take what comes!!:o0
