Only just seen the thread, Gemma.
Hope all will be well. Cysts are very common. I have had two. DD has them, too. She is checked regularly.
You'll probably be referred to a specialist.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I've looked in here twice already today...hope you've got good news for us soon, Gemma.Val.0

So I took the advice to go to at the start of surgery and the hard nose woman said "No appointments for a week, go walk in centre" I said I found a lump on my breast and she said "Still doesn't matter. Its a week take it or leave it"
The man behind me said "Thats outrageous she needs a doctor." I am there crying with panic now, the man says "You can have my appointment if need be" She finds me an appointment 10 minutes before surgery
She then put me with a male doctor! (he was lovely about it though). He referred me to the hospital for an ultrasound (I said more worry) and he said no You'll have it today. So off to the hospital I go. The GP told me not to worry as he suspects its just a cyst.
Rang my boyfriend, he was upset I never told him he said he was more worried about me.0 -
Oh Gemma, how awful that the receptionist was so heartless and could not find it within her to show some common sense and compassion. Cant believe it took for another patient to point out to her your real need to see a doctor. That is disgraceful.
Very glad that you did get seen by a doctor and referred for an immediate ultrasound. You will be in good hands now and well cared for.
It is good that your boyfriend now knows and can support you. So what happened at the ultrasound? Are you OK?
I tell you what... GP's receptionists need shooting don't they? * I've had to cry before to get an appt. They seem to take delight in being brusque.
* NB. It's a light-hearted comment. I'm sure the majority of them are fabulous. Please don't give it all the 'I'm a receptionist and I'm lovely yadda yadda'."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
They should be back tomorrow. He told me not to worry but he will me before surgery to let me know (his words) "As he suspects its just a cyst and we'll get you booked in to sort it"0

It was horrid, but it was okay in the end. Wanted my boyfriend to be there though.0 -
Glad you've told your chap, Gemma, a problem shared and all that. I'm sure your lump will be as the doc thinks.
Actually, I feel a bit of a connection to you, as just after I started reading this thread my OH noticed that one of the moles on my back looks different, all spread out compared to how it is usually. I'll be making my appointment tomorrow
I also wanted to praise my GP's receptionists; they always ask whether it's "urgent for today", and if the patient deems it urgent they will find an appointment for you. Frankly I find it shocking that not everyone gets this level of service.
Good luck for your results. They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
Sorry for going on over the last few days0

You haven't gone on at all, I'd be the same! I would be panicking too, and by posting on here hopefully you've been made to feel a little better. It's what this forum is about I think! Hope you get good news tomorrow xMarried my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0
