Three words re the receptionist...Formal Written Complaint. That's outrageous, the doctor thought it well worth his time to see you and had no qualms at all about sending you straight to the hospital for ultrasound after all. Receptionists like her are actively working against their job description but unless folk complain about treatment like this, nothing will be done. Get the miserable so and so disciplined. Lovely man at reception, how nice to hear of kind deeds.
Glad to hear the encouraging news too, I hope the GP can finally put your mind at rest tomorrow.Val.0 -
My boyfriend said he is going to complain as hes had issues with her before. He told me if I had told him on saturday (and he said I should have told him) I'd have had a doctor saturday night. I don't like him throwing money like that, he doesn't need too.
I feel more confident more. When I find out its nothing, going to celebrate. Managed to eat something tonight though,0 -
Gemma, I have been following your thread and have to say how appalled I am at the disgraceful way the receptionist treated you. I agree with making a formal complaint.
I have my fingers crossed for a good result tomorrow.0 -

Gemma I can empathise, I'm in more or less the same boat at the moment after discovering a large lump - mammogram tomorrow, followed by an appointment with the boob surgeon on Thursday. I never imagined I would be having my first mammogram at 35. And like you, I googled for information, which was quite frightening.
I have been telling myself that unless the Dr seems concerned, I'm not going to be.
Try to keep your head up! Good luck for your results.Toiletries challenge - Start 362 Current 329£10 a day in Feb - £70.79/£2800 -
Gemma, I have been following your thread and am so relieved that you got an appointment and were sent to the hospital. Well done that doctor.
I'm sure that you've inspired others to get lumps etc checked out, you should be proud of that.
Statistically, most lumps are harmless, but I know that it's hard to believe that when it's your own body. I had a mole removed from my leg a few years ago and was out of my mind with worry, but it turned out to be benign. The relief was enormous!
As for the receptionist, you should certainly complain. The receptionists at my surgery are the same, they're a nightmare. Don't let her get away with it. I'm appalled at her treating you like that.

I would definitely make a formal complaint about the receptionist, as her behaviour is disgusting!
Having no appointments is one thing, but telling her what's wrong and having her STILL tell you tough sh*t is not acceptable!
Hope it goes well for you.
I found a lump in my mid 20s, saw a doctor, then had to go straight to hospital to have it screened and checked. Very nerve-wrecking, but thankfully all was fine. The hospital doctor was male, my doctor was male, and the hospital also had a couple of male students who all wanted to feel what a non-cancerous lump felt like. Thankfully no lumps since, and all the docs were great!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
No news? I keep checking this thread.Val.0
