Thanks. Heavylevy I quite like the small hole idea - the bin is empty so shouldnt be very heavy.
Chrisw - thanks for the suggestions, I could try all those things except Im not stuck inside the store cupboard, I just cant get into it and it doesnt have a window, so apart from being carted away by men in white coats Im not sure it will achieve opening the store room door. Unless the men in white coats happen to have a drill and knitting needle on them!
Actually if I was stuck inside I wouldnt have this problem cos Id be able to move the bin!

Great I suggest the small hole idea first and get ignored because I missed the pvc bit in the OP.

huh, I shall just go off in the huff now and not bother you again :p

Did you actually read the OP? This person isn't TRAPPED, they simply cannot get into their bin store.
Ahh - now it makes more sense. I hadn't conceived that a bin store would enjoy the luxury of double glazing (and who knows, perhaps carpeting and a cosy fire?).

Depending on the construction of the door, it may be possible to remove the beading around a panel or glass, and gain entry that way.

If you drill a hole (as suggested by [STRIKE]torbrex[/STRIKE] Heavylevy), you want the hole opposite the flat surface of the bin - if you are opposite a corner, the 'pusher' may glance off.

This is fascinating - like Houdini in reverse!

    Least visible damage suggestion
    1. Go and buy a new handle set complete with square spindle
    2. Make sure the door is unlocked
    3. Hacksaw the handle off the door through the spindle about 1.5 cm away from the handle plate
    4. Extract the spindle
    5. Hacksaw the handle level with the handle plate
    6. Insert the new spindle into the handle far enough to operate the catch mechanism, but not so far that it goes inot the other handle
    7. Use molegrips to operate the door
    8. replace handle set.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Aha, apologies. Although I just re-read your original post and it can be read both ways, it's obviously only my brain that read it the other way!

I am trying to figure out why a bin store would need a handle on the inside of the door.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Now I don't really think this is all a wind up, but it does have all the necessary elements to make it so:D:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

May be difficult if you are inside and door closes accidently, then we would have a reverse situation.:D
