    Don't hammer it, you will probably shear the spindle, also the bin will just absorb the impact. Get a pole on the end and applie steady pressure gradually increasing, hopefully you will pop a hole in the bin lid/flex it enough to lower the handle. Have you got someone able to give you a hand and push against the door?

    Assuming that the door is made of wood, borrow a drill and bore a hole in front of where the bin is resting against the door, large enough to take the spindle of a long screwdriver (or similar) then push the bin away from the door through the hole.

    I would:-

    a) climb out a window;
    b) phone a friend;
    c) bang on a window gesticulating wildly when someone passes;
    d) put a hammer through the glass.

    If I were you I would borrow a drill and drill a small 5mm hole in the center of the door near a bead or corner. Then I would poke a knitting needle or metal scewer though the hole and push the bin back enough to work the lever. When finished seal the small hole with a blob of silican sealant. Good luck.

    This seems to be the only sensible answer so far. Hell, ring 101 and ask if a passing bobby can release you, if you really have no friends of family at all.

    Is there a window above? Lassoo the bin and yank it?

    Did you actually read the OP? This person isn't TRAPPED, they simply cannot get into their bin store.
