In the store I recently used to work in, any unclaimed money went to the police station after a month. If a customer returned and the missing money was not recorded, they were advised to report theft of their change/cash back.0

How daft is that? Who on earth is going to go to a police station a month after forgetting to lift their change? If a customer returned and the missing money was not recorded, they were advised to report theft of their change/cash back.
I find this very difficult to swallow but it's a strange world that we live in.Abandoned0 -
Wow! It's all kicked off in here hasn't it?!0

Was that a joke? I hope so!
Generalising any group of people on the actions of a few is wrong. Saying all of Tesco's checkout people are lazy is a very mild version of saying all muslims are terrorists. It's nonsense and both are discrimination. I've seen people think it's okay to say that all men are abusive because that's been her experience. Not okay!0 -

Hope you didn't think I was kicking off because I really do find
Schnauzer's post difficult to believe. Taking the post at its face value it would mean that someone from the store would go to the police station and say, for example, "Someone left this £5 note in our self service check out 4 weeks ago". Can you see that happening? Talk about wasting police time?
Likewise, to expect a customer to go to a police station and report that someone had stolen the £5 that they had forgotten to lift from the checkout, is unbelievable. They might just as well report the theft of money they lost in the street.Abandoned0 -

Their - belonging to them.
There - In that place.
The only thing worth mentioning about your post partially quoted, is the fact that you got your there and their mixed up.Nothing wrong with that - countless thousands make the same mistake and still make their message, just like yours, crysal clear. In your case of course, the quoted info is simply senseless.Abandoned0 -

If they haven't come back by four weeks to the store to claim their cash back, it's highly unlikely they're going to claim it at all.
With regards to reporting it, if we had a customer in that was unhappy that their money wasn't handed it and requested we review the CCTV footage, security would take a look. Most of the time, the customer would be pretty peeved that someone had pocketed their money. Not much the store can do about it, which is when we advised reporting it.0 -

Agreed but then taking the money to the police station?? It's just too silly to contemplate. With regards to reporting it,if we had a customer in that was unhappy that their money wasn't handed it and requested we review the CCTV footage, security would take a look. So did the police investigate these thefts?Abandoned0 -

Do you think they are going to give it back to the person who left it by mistake?
Its finders keepers losers weepers.
Next time take the money you find and treat it as a nice little bonus.
Not everyone is a thief. And it is a criminal, not just a moral, offence.0
