    Hi KC

If I'm honest I don;t think the 3 year one will last for more than a few months - but at least it gives me some income to pay the bills until I can get another job.:)

How are you doing - Hope all is well chez KC

    Today's good news!

Boiler broke down last week. It's quite an old model and spares are getting more difficult to find. :(...........Boiler man came today and said it needed a new PCB.........luckily I had picked one up off Freecycle a couple of years ago :money::money:

..................so he fitted it whilst he was here and I now have hot water and central heating again .....without further delay...and saved myself £150....:j:j

Wow! I had to google pcb, but this sounds **brilliant** - good for you! As El says, real forward thinking gone on there :T

If British Gas send me a bill for the £50 excess, I will be sending them a bill back for the PCB they should have supplied at their expense under my service agreement :rotfl::rotfl:

    More news:
Completed last GCSE invigilation today so can now submit my time sheet and get paid. I could actually answer all the questions on today's paper for "Health and Social care" so am feeling a bit more intelligent :D

Some of the new piggies are now being syringe fed as they are not coping well with the change in environment :(- this is a first for me.

Unfortunately I did not win the Euromillions today ......
....but I have had a "productive" day today ....and as I don;t have many of those atm..:o..... I am feeling very positive tonight.

This is a positive diary..........this IS a positive diary :o

Unfortunately, this weekend did not get off to the best of starts

    Yesterday:
    a) the boiler, which was meant to be fixed, is clearly still not fixed as there was no hot water for the morning shower . The VERY nice (young totty ;)) gas man came today - and of course the boiler then decided to work perfectly :wall:....so I now have to wait until it has another one of it's little tantrums and ring him. I do so hate intermittent faults . Still, at least we now know it will either need ANOTHER PCB - or more probably it's a replacement electrode. The good news is that firstly, both parts are available and cost is covered on the service contract :money:and, secondly, I do not need to fork out for a new boiler.......yet! :T:T

    b) I didn;t win the EM lottery. :(

    c) a large wooden salad bowl "jumped" off the shelf onto my bare foot/toes yesterday evening- It's possible that it might have broken a couple of the little bones in my foot judging from the pain/swelling/bruising...and I am having serious problems putting any weight on it. I have however strapped it up in a bandage and forced it into one half of a pair of Crocs so I can at least do a hopalong impresssion :rotfl:

I DON;T BELIEVE IT - :wall::wall::wall:.....I'm so utterly frustrated...it seems that every couple of years since the flood I am destined to temporarily lose the use of a limb just as the best of the summer weather sets in - first the right arm with the guinea-pig severed tendons, then the left broken wrist from slipping on the stairs....and now the left foot :rotfl::rotfl:

I have so much "active" stuff/chores lined up to do this weekend as I am playing catch-up owing to the horrible recent weather- e.g. plant out the hanging baskets before all the plants die in their polystyrene containers, cleaning out the piggie (including the newcomers); addressing the now 2' high weeds in the garden........and I have to go to site tomorrow to talk to residents for the job I'm doing atm.
My motivation for these types of tasks/chores is still pretty shaky - but this was the weekend I was "up and going for it"

Still - I have managed to completely hoover the house today and [STRIKE]hack[/STRIKE] mow all the lawns......albeit rather slowly! I've also done a bit of paperwork de-cluttering ......And luckily I can still drive to work tomorrow because I have an automatic!

It looks like it's going to be a sitting-down type of afternoon/eveningwatching the Wimbledon highlights whilst on-line grocery shopping using my vouchers to their best effect :money:..... and Mount Kilimanjironing..

I just hope I can get my swollen (and now somewhat sauteed) foot back out of the protective but now somewhat sweaty Croc before I go to bed :D
Regrettably, the guinea pigs will just have to pong for a couple of days -not up to my usual standards of husbandry but hey ho :o..They have eaten loads of grass today, so luckily I don;t think they're too bothered

I am obviously trusting that this latest temporary disability will only last a few days, based upon my past experience of breaking toes on barrels when I used to serve behind a bar as a student

On a positive note - I received a cheque today for£100 from annual share dividend - which will go towards the overdraft/mortgage drawdown account..when I can hobble up to the bank to pay it in :D

Wol limps off for a hot foot soak/bath - boiler permitting :rotfl:

    Have a nice weekend everyone

Re: broken limbs. With your history perhaps you should be proactive and get your right leg plastered now, just in case?

Love the idea of plastering my right leg in advance :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am pleased to be back........it is time for Wol to emerge from under the duvet and really concentrate on getting life health and finances back in order...and also getting a full-time job.

I did put the house on the market last autumn and found a dream house in Wales to move to.......but whilst I had loads of viewings, I didn;t get any offers. I think the large amount of rainfall/flooding occurring in the South West at the time rather put people off the picturesque stream running round two sides of the garden :rotfl:

Anyhow I have now stopped overpaying the mortgage and this has substantially reduced my outgoings such that I can afford to stay provided I get a decent job. :T

Yesterday's good news - I have renegotiated my car insurance and knocked £85 off the renewal premium. :money:

............and I have finally reached an agreement with Southern Water about a compensation payment for loss of use of my garden which will cover my outgoings for another month :j:j....although given their current track record I'll be lucky if I receive the payment before next year :rotfl:

Have a long Meeting tonight :(....so off to cook early dinner and back on tomorrow.

Sounds like you were meant to stay in that house, Wol! And I suspect, despite the trials and tribulations with flooding, you are quite content to stay there for now. Good news about the payment from the water company - hope it becomes a reality soon and not just a paper promise. And well done on the car insurance savings - every little helps! Regards to the pig population.....and to Numpty when you see him!

My goodness - another weekend already!

First - some really good news - I finally had my first mammogram. My younger sister was diagnosed with breast cancer some 3 years ago and my local health authority have steadfastly refused to scan me in advance of "my natural call-time". Well that call-time finally happened - and they cut it a bit fine - only 4 weeks from my 53rd birthday. Anyhow - it was negative - I didn;t even need a recall as a first timer :j

Next - The foot was improving rapidly ....but then I stubbed the broken toe again yesterday on a cardboard box.......so I am back to bandage strapping and crocs :( Hence there is only so much I can do in any one "session"before I need to rest it....and oh boy is it hurting tonight _pale_

I am really pleased to have had a more productive week this week....I am only managing working at 40%. at the moment...i.e two full working days which corresponds to my current employment contract. However this is far better that the 10% of the last year - ie half a day per working week.....

On the home front - .I have previously found it very difficult to get anything at all done at the weekend apart from the basic chores such as washing, cleaning piggies and feeding myself. I have been spending a lot of time reading as an excuse to avoid doing anything else including ebay listing, gardening, ironing, etc :o
However these last two weeks I am more motivated - mainly due to coming back to MSE :money:- and am now catching up with the outstanding items/chores/clutter/mess.

Yes dear peepies, I am the ultimate plodding babystepper :o

I spent an enjoyable evening yesterday attending to Mount Kilimanjironing whilst yelling myself hoarse during the Murray match. What a sight - Wol sitting on the sofa with one leg up desperately peering over the steaming smalls on low-level ironing board to watch the next break point :rotfl:.....with the piggies wheeking along with the crowd quite happily but scuttling for cover whenever Wol emiitted a loud cheer or groan :rotfl:.......to be repeated tomorrow afternoon for the Men's Finals despite the heatwave.

Today, I have set up all 11 of my hanging baskets ......thus saving all the plants from dying in their polystyrene containers. I got some really good deals on plants from Aldi last month :money:......but the weather has not been conducive to date to plant them up....except for last weekend but "The Foot" happened ..
Anyhow - they are now done :j....and waiting for Numpty to put them up when he comes down next week ;)

Also - an amazing thing happened on friday - I actually received my first monthly re-payment towards a very large outstanding loan I made to a friend 10 years ago ........

Praise be! It will still take 3.5 years before I am repaid on the current schedule.........but at this moment any and all contributions are welcome.:D:j:beer:

Finally I'm really encouraged and grateful to see you all posting on my new diary :T
Thank you everyone - :A - it;s extremely motivating and helping me to climb out from the bottom of the stream which is where I have been lying AWOL for the last year :o

Obviously I will endeavour to keep you all entertained by including as much top totty in this diary as possible ......hmmm I feel I need to get the tree surgeons back in ;)......at least some things don;t change :rotfl:

    My goodness....what a tennis match :T:T:T

.........and I got all my ironing done :j:j.......but I still need to put it away :o

We have a sick Bailey guinea today...he's an oldster and I am quite worried that despite all the right treatment he might be too frail to make it .

The good news is that two of the piggie newcomers seem to be "happy" bonding with two of my existing others...although it;s early days yet and there's still a lot of "rudeness" going on....but that's boars for you ;)

So spends today were a bit hefty:
    £45 vet bill
£25 hay for next two weeks
£40 sawdust and litter for the cage cleaning next weekend

I would love to find a farm supplier in this local area that sells decent quality hay and wood shavings for £10 combined that don;t cause skin problems/mites/lice/fungal, necessitating more vet expenses at £30 per consultation/per pig........and i currently have 12 pigs!!
It's been 6 years now ..I've learned the hard/£££ way. Our local supplier went out of business 4 years ago albeit their quality did cause a few infestations :o........so I'm still looking at having to travel over 50 miles to buy a decent bale of farm hay which doesn;t make it cost-effective....yet!

Rant over......off to give Bailey piggie his meds and send up a quick prayer for his recovery
