    Thank you everyone :D

Numpty - looking forward to seeing you tomorrow - Unfortunately the lucky numbers yo put in my birthday card didn't come up tonight :(

Tixy - great to see you :j:j

Beanie - just noticed your siggie - congrats on the weight loss

Nargle - I have been checking freegle for unwanted plaster bandage as per your recommendations but so far no luck :D

I celebrated my birthday by ordering loads of kitchen rolls at bargainous prices courtesy of Groupon for both me and a few of the Guinea Pig rescues I work with. :money:....it's amazing what us rescue ladies can get excited over :rotfl::rotfl:

A friend came round today with a lovely bunch of lilies, a colour-co-ordinated "can;t kill" houseplant for my kitchen and a guinea pig mouse mat :)

I received felicitous phone calls from my parents - mum only nagged about my foot and the guinea pigs and finding a job three times during the conversation ;)......and a friend

I had an ATOS Occupational Health interview on the phone for the invigilator position - there will be more work in autumn with mocks so I am now a casual employee - and found out today that my pituitary tumour is apparently classified as a disability under the act although no "work adjustments" are necessary ....

    ......and I've now realised I'm actually 52 today not 53 :rotfl::rotfl:

I've finally managed to put away the piles of ironing from last week's Murray final and tidy up a bit in preparation for Numpty;s arrival tomorrow.

Off to feed and water the piggies - just a few more cages to clean out tomorrow.......and I'm getting some food for a BBQ on sunday for me, Numpty and a couple of friends........

    Night night

Sorry about your friend Bailey, Wol. I suppose you must be used to it by now, but it doesn't get any easier, does it? Our pets are truly more than just animals, they live in our hearts and it hurts when they leave.

    Hello peepies

Been a tad busy this last week and unfortunately not with pleasant stuff...both personal and financial.

    a) Members of my family are being "bullied" and much worse - very upsetting but can;t say anymore as police/barristers involved _pale_. Sad to see the effects it is having on their health

    b) Found out last week friends husband passed away suddenly and was buried two weeks ago- he was younger than me - two young kids under 14 - shocked and gutted :cry:. Was slightly concerned at first as to why friend hadn't let me know what was going on at the time... but after long chat last week can now understand, so whilst still sad and shocked ...I'm glad she's OK'ish and coping. . .

    c) Large 4 figure "On Account" tax bill to pay [STRIKE]tomorrow[/STRIKE] today .....owing to lack of income and my inability to get my accounts filed in sufficient time to avoid the on Account payment .....big slap for Wol for being so disorganised. ...but which will be reclaimed again soon once accounts filed :)

    d) Got rejected without interview for a dead cert job - its public sector so, given I met all the essential criteria I SHOULD, according to my current boss, have at least got interview ...need to follow this up

So - on to the positives:

    a) still earning money from the contract that was meant to end last month :)
    b) managed to find a rescue space for one of the extra single boar piggies that I "ended up with" after a rehoming run went wrong last month....now only got two more rescue spaces to find and then I'm back to a more manageable number of cages/pigs :j

    c) two more job applications in pipeline - both going into recruitment as new career move - but still within my industry

    d) the bad weather "Supercell storm" from France that was forecast last saturday to flood me out of house and home - with maybe golf-ball hail and tornadoes thrown in  - luckily didn't happen  .
Good for me but unfortunately this was because it diverted at the last minute and decided to hit Germany and Belgium instead :(

Nevertheless, the flood defences have all been in place since I last posted i.e. when the first of the serious weather warnings came through - Despite the flash flooding/storms etc occurring everywhere else in the country, my area so far has had virtually no rain and deffo no storms :T - but even so, the defences will remain in place until we are all sure this unsettled run of wather is well and truly over.

    e) So I am now a fully signed up avid member of Netweather forums and have been glued to both weather radar sites and the minute by minute accounts of actual and predicted reports of convective thunderstorms/torrential rain occurring across the country during this current period of unsettled weather. I am totally fascinated by the info coming out of the UK storm-chaser community and am currently learning about storm formation and behaviour and associated torrential rain cloud formations - which also includes anvils, wall and shelf clouds, supacell formation, and how/why we might get mini tornadoes in UK.
More importantly I am starting to feel much more in control about being able to understand/predict the risk of flooding to me now at a scientific level rather than rely on the Metoffice/EA generically pan-geographical and rather inaccurate warnings for the "general public" that take no account of local conditions.
    f) Nice meeting/meal with whole family tonight :)

I have to admit that last week I felt a bit like a pinball machine....rebounding from one piece of bad news to another. Let's hope this coming week will enable me to settle all the issues and work towards some peaceful and relaxing me time in August

Well, Wol, they say in life sometimes a little rain must fall - seems to be monsoon season in your neck of the woods at the moment!
So sorry - your family hassles. At least with The Law involved hopefully there should be a resolution soon.
So sorry - your friend's loss. Life is a b1tch at times, but I am sure you will be a good friend to her in her time of need.
So sorry - re matters financial. At least you know what needs to be done and can sort it out.
So sorry - you didn't get an interview for that job. I would imagine they had hundreds of applicants and were only shortlisting about a dozen for interview, and if the ones shortlisted had relevant experience then that would have been in their favour.

However, you still have funds coming in, your work with piggies, more job applications in the pipeline, and your determination to be pro-active regarding flood defences. You have lots to be happy about amidst all the gloom and sadness, and I sense a more determined Wol than of old, one who will no longer be a passive victim but who will grab life's events by the sphericals and say "Bring it on!"

    Rock on, Wol!
