I am stunned but not surprised about the ombudsman decision. And very very sorry for you. I take it that there is no further appeal you can do? 60k wow , and I thought we were hard done by having to pay out 36. And I can empathise with the alcohol too, I am sure the stress was immense. Not an excuse per se, but I can see the issue.
I hope this year you can start rebuilding your life as we have done. But it leaves a bitter taste doesn't it.

Nice to see Numpty back on the boards too . YOu have both been missed. Squee Squee to the piggies.

How lovely to see some old friends on here..thank you all for coming back..I will reply to you all individually over the next week.

Just for now a quickie update on the weekend..........

    Travel/journey-wise it was OK.
I had to change my plans as soon after I'd arranged to see the parents last week, an urgent piggie rescue came up requiring experienced transport of some delicate hairless guinea pigs from darn sarf to a dedicated rescue in Wales. I put my hand up - only to find that they were already in the process of approaching me to do this one as I was the only person they trusted for this job.
    Chuffed?...or Mugged? :rotfl:

So I duly picked up the little nudist aliens early saturday morning... and delivered them to their forever home in Wales at lunchtime same day. Arrived at parents late afternoon as arranged and we went out for mum's birthday meal. Unfortunately she was already "spitting" having had no cards from my other siblings after her email earlier in the week demanding that she receives no flowers.......so she really was in combatative mood.

I bit my tongue the whole time and resisted.......unfortunately my dad took the brunt..:( It also didn't help that the meal/restaurant of her choice was carp........but at least I arrived on the doorstep with two presents and a card with me :A

I didn;t stay the night as i had another guinea pig in tow for the return journey so got home at about 12.30am on sunday morning.

I was amazed at how out of sorts I felt sunday ....couldn;t settle or concentrate on getting my own chores done. In effect - I lost most of that day trying to handle the emotional backlash I felt from having to "deal with her" without retaliating..........and I clearly made my escape from the real world chores by procrastination :o..

I DID however finally force myself out into the garden yesterday evening to mow lawns and dig up loads of weeds for two hours.....and I also got two rounds of washing done, broke all my nails and have very dirty hands :rotfl:

Whist this is not the progress/results/target I would have hoped to achieve yesterday - I am prepared to settle for the fact that "it's good enough."...... as let's rememebr I am on baby steps at the moment,

So the chores/work continue to mount up.....I am not going to get stressed - I will deal them as and when I am able.

My counsellor - yes I am still with her - has told me that my past output before the breakdown was "prodigious". I am still learning to live with my current limitations/frustrations but the good news is I am no longer beating myself over the head about it.

    Nite all

That does sound good progress Wol - it takes an awful lot not to retaliate, and you can't defend your dad from your mum - that *really* doesn't work! - but its great that you poured that frustrated energy into looking after the garden, thats positive for *you*, and thats what matters.

Quite an appropriate description beanie as I believe I am now truly looking my age and beyond :rotfl: :o:rotfl:

We are indeed still plodding on - and that is thanks to you - for we have kept your sentiments close to our heart over the last year or so and they have been a real source of comfort and hope amidst some pretty carp times....

    Thank you Hun :T:T

How you keep fighting all that life throws your way I don't know. What you have been through is enough to knock you for 66 not 6.

Good luck with the baby steps and hopefully they'll turn in to giant leaps in time. :)x

    Yowsa :j:j Tixy :j:j

So lovely to see you and really chuffed you posted. Thank you! :D

In my odd lurking moment, I've clocked that you've been doing some really stalwart stuff on DFW - well done Hun.:T

Yep - I believe I have been suffering from "Consumer Fatigue" - and unfortunately it;s not over yet .

I am currently in dispute with Southern water for plonking this enormous pumping station in my garden last year and depriving the guinea pigs of their summer home. SW expected to get my permission do this - including taking a run off my electrical supply to power it- without putting anything in writing first to include reimbursements/wayleave arrangements etc and a decent compensation offer for loss of use of the land. Their attitude of "sign here we'll sort it all out later" just beggars belief

I've also had to deal with another utility company doing gas mains replacement who drilled outside my house until 2am each night for 4 weeks and dug up my drive without permission and expected to get away with not reinstating it...that has taken the last 6 months to resolve

So onwards and upwards......consumers rule OK!:rotfl:

Hugs Hun - lovely to see you . Hope you are well and job is going OK
