Hope you, Numpty, cat and piggies spend Christmas in the warm with everything dry! Here Oop North it is wet and squally but nowhere near as bad as some places.
Whatever happens, at least you are not alone - so here's to friendship and stability for the rest of 2013 onwards! One life - your life - live it!0 -
Blimey Wol! I'm glad to hear that storm didn't damage things too badly - the one on the 23rd chased me up the country on the 23rd, and I'm back now, still travelled in calm weather, so I got off very lightly - hope you did too, many positive vibes heading your way still.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thank you everyone for your concern. This has been the most eventful and sleepless Xmas ever and I'm not sure Numpty will ever want to visit again..:(
We are safe and sound, warm and dry.............and as of tomorrow we will also be clean!
On top of the weather issues with the stream and the flood door leaking, the sewage/wastewater pumping station in my garden serving several properties failed last weekend. It has taken the water company 5 incompetent days involving 20 sets of contractors visiting in order to finally get it working this evening. The whole thing degenerated into a Monty Python sketch at which point (11.30pm on New Years Eve) I finally ";lost it" with the water company. You couldn't make it up!
Numpty and I have had very little sleep what with weather/stream watching; contractors meetings at silly o'clock (eg 1am New Years Day) and providing food and shelter from the worst of the storms for those poor sods subsequently tasked to manually operate the pump throughout the night until it could be fixed. Together with the other neighbours. we have also have had to be careful about use of washing machines/dishwashers/baths/showers etc.:o
Numpty has been brilliant - and has provided the oft required "male presence" when dealing with the various contractors who have turned up.
Despite all the hassle and relentless rain/storms - the positive vibes from you guys must have encouraged lady luck to shine on Wol's Riverbank when compared to those poor people all round the UK who have been flooded.
Thank you all - and thank you Numpty for all your support. :T:T
Tonight will be the first full night of decent sleep for either of us without the worries of sewage or stream flooding my garden or contractors visits day and night since 23rd December.
Back in a few days when the worst of the weather will have passed.......need to get some zzzz's whilst we have a brief lull.

Thank you for letting us know how you have been getting on Wol as many of us have been worried about you (even if we normally only lurk). Glad you had Numpty with you as it is always more difficult dealing with this stuff alone. I hope all your dependents are keeping warm and dry. I also hope that you get a decent nights sleep and wake up to clear and still skies.0
