Errrmmm.....Sorry to be a bit late to the party everyone .......:o:rotfl:

Phew! Tonight: Xmas/New Year break starts and finishes here at the Riverbank:

    a) the stinky occupants....(NB includes Piggies and no offence intended Numpty :D) .. have finally been able to indulge in all of the 3 "SH's" IN THE SAME DAY....ie shave/shower etc :j

b)The house is clear of rubbish :) that hasn't been able to be collected/recycled for the last 3 weeks because of the gale-force winds co-inciding with each and every bin collection day :wall::wall:

    c) the beds are changed and laundry has been "done" :j

    d) a nice steak dinner is in the making :D

    ...and finally.....

    e) the Xmas lights on the tree have finally been switched on and we will be sitting down to enjoy the festivities for one night whilst watching the telly (pre-recorded Sherlock)..:).. before it all gets taken down tomorrow

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!!
:beer:..........Wol's Riverbank got there in the end! :T:T

Seriously though - I am counting our blessings tonight....not the way I had hoped to spend the festivities...but despite the stress/interruption etc, the outcome was so very much luckier for us than some. :)

Back with a new chapter shortly methinks?:D

Edit: Numpty has managed to cut himself twice whilst shaving tonight - clearly gone out of practice!

I've been keeping an eye on the live flood warnings in Wol's area - it was red for ages this week, its downgraded to amber just now - I don't know if it actually did flood or not, but she was in danger for a fair old while :(

    Positive vibes, Wol.

thanks karma for the update. I have my fingers and toes crossed that Wol is ok.

Can't believe how bad the weather has been in the UK. My mum is NOT pleased to have gone back this last weekend

You're welcome, chev - I just *bet* your mum isn't pleased to come home to this lot!

I just checked the floods map again - haven't done Wol's yet, but I nearly had a heart attack when I saw my mum's town with an amber alert - its for the high tide tonight, "overtopping", they say. Ha! There are sea walls further down the coast, but literally nothing where she is except sand dunes. I'm just glad she's got an upstairs, and she's not in a pensioner's bungalow.

ETA - Wol's is still showing amber on the map, but the alert has gone ... for now.

    Hi All

Thanks for your concern....it's been such a hairy and devastating situation for the whole country, let alone us in the South East ref weather and flooding.

From23rd December through til this afternoon in terms of flood warnings/sewage issues/dealing with residents etc etc , I can;t remember the last time I actually got >3hours uninterrupted sleep on a bed! Thankfully Wol's Riverbank has survived intact and without the house being flooded! (we came VERY close!!!)

Thought today we finally had some respite:.

    BUT............SAD NEWS TONIGHT:
Tia piggie has had to be PTS tonight......without going into any details, this is the most gutting and shocking thing that has happened to me since the floods of 2007

Going to bed soon...can't dwell on this or anything else any more atm! Brain is shutting down.

"Gutted" is not the right word to describe how I feel tonight.

    Back soon...but NOT tomorrow
