Extracting yourself from that situation seems to be taking a long time. I really hope that it isn't too stressful for you. Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Chev
Thanks for popping back. I am "duly extracted" but have been trying to get my head together enough to start a positive new diary.
One of the main issues I have is self-sabotage - I do well and make progress then fall back again and end up going round in circles and thoroughly ashamed of myself. Even my counsellor was starting to get frustrated and so she started some energy work (which I didn't, as a scientist, necessarily believe in but after only one session it left me amazed and gobsmacked). It turned out that "shame" was identified as a prime cause and that it was deep rooted back to when I was very young.
The good news is that, as a result, I subsequently and quite out of the blue recalled a rather significant event that has provided me with some explanations as to what's going on for me atm and we are currently working through that.
I am feeling much more positive - have been concentrating on applying for jobs and, hopefully am about to be put forwards for one by a recruitment agency that would enable me to start a new stage in my career in project management.
I am currently invigilating GCSE's which is helping me get back into a routine and at least bring some money in (although it's been half term this week hence why I am posting this at silly o'clock!)
I'm nowhere near being "out of the woods" yet, and don;t feel up to regular postings on here as yet, but I DO finally feel I'm making progress towards a better future.
Thanks for sticking with me everyone

Hi All
I may have been MIA for some while but I have been working on money saving and upping my income (as well as healing myself) and have made some good progress. BUT - I still haven't managed to secure a FT job. So I'm working very hard on "cash-flow" (especially given I am not eligible for anything like JSA etc as I was self-employed).
Also, I'm now getting into the right frame of mind to feel comfortable posting more regularly - on both what I have achieved (in order to update you after my absence) and also setting myself some targets for the week. When I've finally summoned up the courage - I may even stat a new thread and post my first SOA!:o:eek:
So - To be going on with:
UTILITIES:
New boiler finally fitted last month as well as new radiator in the unheated kitchen/utility. My parents generously subbed the costs after the third boiler breakdown in the middle of winterand I got approx £600 of discounts to leave me with a guaranteed fixed-price quote for the work. But in true MSE style I kept postponing the installation for months (pleading flood risk) which means I can now 0%BT the credit card this month with the bill on for cash flow purposes (instead of cashing in another ISA) :money:
Also now entering a rolling phase of replacing light bulbs with LED's.
All of this should dramatically reduce the current dual fuel DD from £285pcm :eek: to a substantially lower monthly payment, especially since I now have Hive/Room thermostat control so I just leave it to get on with itself.
I have identified other "fuel-draining opportunities" including getting free "top-up" loft insulation and I have recently discovered that my cavity wall insulation was probably Furked when the house flooded in 2007 (insurance should have dealt with it at the time but I think it is too late now to pursue - is it 6years?) Also I will need to replace the 20yr old double glazing windows over the next few years as many of the seals have gone..so just "getting prepared" in case a grant suddenly pops up!
WATER:
Now on obligatory water meter - lovely to see both my drinking water and sewage water DD's (separate companies) coming down by 50% accordingly - then there is the added £60p.a. rebate for having that blessed pumping station in my garden
INCOME - WORK
Just submitted my timesheet for invigilating the GCSe's so should get paid in July.
Spent the last two weeks focusing on a specific job application and subsequent interviews. Lots of research, reconfiguring CV and covering letter etc etc but sadly although reached final interview I didn't get the job. This is now the fourth time I've got to final interview stage and come runner-up!
I'm actually not too despondent about this latest one as i think I have done really well to get to final interview for a senior level job in the NHS when I've never before been employed by them before (they wanted someone with business skills) so in fact it has boosted my somewhat flagging confidence
Also been approached for P-T work over the next year (fixed-term contract) to manage another Property level Flood protection scheme for the Environment Agency...pursuing this as back-up plan.
INCOME - OTHER - TO DO
2013/14 Tax return to be submitted for another rebate (£2k?).
All flood doors (not just the leaky ones) were replaced with new ones - as the old front door is still servicable, even as just a very nice UPVC front door , I asked to keep it so need to ebay that (along with the first tranche of many items that could take me the rest of the year in terms of de-cluttering).
MONEY MORAL DILEMMA
Owing to recent events - I now currently own two cars:eek: .
This is as a result of an interesting and unusual consumer situation which has arisen between my garage and the insurance warranty company. Watch this space for an update later in the week!!
Hope you are all having a good weekend and enjoying the weather.

Hi Sparkles
It's all been a bit of a shock - took Pigmobile BMW 3L Estate (Piggie rescue) car in to have brake pads/discs done (brake judder) with an added advisory from me to investigate some recently noticed spray oil droplets in the engine bay and around radiator cap...Nothing else untowards - temperature/exhaust emission/performance etc all great as Numpty will confirm as he was in the car too and from Leeds immediately prior to booking it in
On exam - was told car was dangerous to drive, immobilised by garage and also consdiered uneconomic to repair....Turns out there was a serious amount of oil in the coolant system ...."we've never seen anything like this before".......Oh and yes Mr Garage Man - I may be female but I DO know where to top up the oil and haven't put oil in the radiator system by mistake ... Oh and by the way - my car has always been covered on an unlimited mileage warranty insurance at £62pcm!. Sounds expensive but ....woo hooo! It's been well worth it as it's already covered a replacement automatic gear box, a replacement instrument cluster (dashboard panel behind the steering wheel) and all the glow plugs :money:
Cue perky up from service man about the warranty cover ...they clearly wanted the work if it was covered by warranty....and the Repair parts list by now had already climbed to £2500....Cue Warranty insurance company blowing hot and cold about whether they would cover repairs and were asking the garage to jump through hoops ..so after 3 weeks (and £400 paid by me personally in car hire charges) I suggested best option for all of us was a write off/scrappage settlement.
Parents then "gifted me" their BMW 3L saloon (not suitable for piggie rescue) :A....and bought a new car A week after taking ownership, (now 4 weeks post bad news) I went to garage to empty the Pigmobile of personal effects as I was still assuming a scrappage deal was on the table. On arrival, I was informed the repairs had been authorised that day. Currently, 8 weeks after the initial diagnosis, it's now MOt'd/fixed and ready to drive away..
So I now have two cars to be taxed/MOT'd/insured...(Pigmobile had to be donethis month and new Silver Bullet to be done next month).
But which do I keep?:undecided.....lots of other things to consider which have not posted about tonight
More next week - might even put up a poll on this!
