Hi Chev - still hanging on in there..and thanks for thinking of me.

Hopefully things are working positively forwards for you down under? I know it;s been a rough time for you. HUGS!!!

I am hoping to make an important positive announcement in 48hrs time - but don;t want to jinx things before then.

If it all works out - then Wol will be back on here regularly for Riverbnak Series 6!!

Without wishing to pre-empt things - there maybe some really good news shortly that may necessitate an "old-style" internet party !!!

Well, I did get a job offer back in February which meant I could stay in the Riverbank house, but after I signed the contract the company then withdrew it! Bizarre

I am very pleased to report however that I am starting employment on 3rd May. :jThis new job has happened very suddenly and involves a massive relocation to Somerset. Interestingly the job is a natural progression from my voluntary work whilst I have been unemployed with no JSA (and not my illustrious business career!)

I am currently sorting out rental accommodation, packing, removals, and putting my own house on the market . Yet again MSE advice on cash stoozing on 0% credit cards has been invaluable to giving me the liquidity I need to make the move possible (even though my 88year old dad is having to act as guarantor because my job has a 3 month probationary period!!!!)

So I am moving (with the 12 guinea pigs) on monday 25th April

Numpty Monkey has been brilliant :A- spending at least two weeks down here over Easter to help me clear out the loft, shed etc, accompany me on numerous trips to the dump and spruce up the patio, outbuildings etc  (He does love jetwashing and painting!!)
    (Be warned - He's also a ruthless "de-clutter" adviser :D)

I guess this is the start of a new chapter -exciting but daunting in terms of the logistics (mainly speed) at which everything has to happen. It does however mean that when the house is sold, (which it will be now owing to both flood protection and the new Flood Re insurance agreement) that I will be debt and mortgage-free :money:(until I buy a property in the West country)

It is gutting to leave my lovely home as I really had intended to live out the rest of my life here (Also ladies, some great top-totty landscapers/tree surgeons have just moved in next door .which definitely brings back memories of one of my previous diaries in summer 2009). So there are mixed emotions and even Numpty shed a few tears before he left last week as there are a lot of great DFW memories associated with the house (including Wol's DFW Rave!)

It's almost unbelievable that one act of nature (the flood in 2007) has dominoed to cause a chain of events that have led us to where we are now.....but it's time to draw a line under past events and turn over a fresh page in the book of Wol.

I'd just like to say an incredibly big thank to all DFW's - past and present - that I have come to know over the years. Without your support and friendship, both interwebby and in person, I would not be here now. We've had some laughs and we've also had some sadness ( RIP Taxi)

This Board is an amazing source of friendship, advice and support and I hope my diaries detailing the road I have travelled will encourage at least one "newbie" to "keep plodding" (as our good friend Beanie Lou would say) You can find links to the previous ones in my first post on this thread.

You can never predict what life will throw at you - especially a life-changing event like it was for me - but thankfully the good folk on DFW are always here to keep you going!

I'm off to pack some more boxes......but I will be back to update on the possible sale of the house. Because until that happens I am still currently in debt to the tune of £200k

    Thanks everyone

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:You know what struck me the most? Is that you are moving from one flood prone area to another. Sorry it made me giggle! Good luck with the move and job and everything. Wow you might even end up near my step mum, or brother as they both live in Somerset.

Glad to see Numpty is helping out. I need him to help declutter me...Lot of stuff to get rid of in my world too.

Have you found a rental that will take all the GPs?

I was just trying to do a bit to help, someone who has helped me and Tigger (Tigger is my cat ) a hell of a lot over the years. It's not payback or anything like that, it's just how friends work.yoyo10.gif

I guess you're right on the jet washing, very therapeutic
I wouldn't say I enjoy painting – wood staining maybe? you don't have to be as tidyyoyo47.gif

Chev, As far as the declutering goes, It was only 9 trips to the dump and a skip (mainly old, not working stuff, garden and stream rubbish and various bits of carpet and old paint tins) it's only took several years and severalteen moves from various rooms, sheds, shelves, boxes, buildings inside and out to get rid of some of it. yoyo116.gif

I helped move it, It took Wol to through it away.yoyo11.gif

Beanie you are right all we have to do is keep plodding along(sometimes with a little sprint)yoyo09.gif

Yes I shed a tear, I had spent many a happy time down there, the Rave, holidays, breaks Christmas's(2013/14 was a weird one) helping build Piggie Palace and the patio (thats where my thing for jetwashing started), helping out and just being a friend.
As you know it felt like me and Tiggers second home and that is down to you, we'll be back down to see you again Ju;y /August.yoyo52.gif

    Wol,
I know you'll be great in your new career, that my piggie nieces and nephews will be loved andwell cared for, and you'll settle and be happy back in your home country -away from fruitloop central, yoyo67.gif

This is not just the start of a new chapter , but the start of a new book.yoyo153.gif

Good luck sweetheart you deserve ityoyo50.gif
