dannahaz - On the flip side, considering you do what I'm planning have you ever had any problems with companies wanting originals?

Sometimes you need originals for proof of ID/address. For this reason, I always have a recent (within the last three months) original of a credit card statement and a utility bill. I also keep the original of my Council Tax form and Water Rates form for the current year, as that is also often acceptable as proof.

I've never had any other problems (hope I'm not tempting fate here), and I've been scanning my stuff for years now.

When I started, I also decided to scan all my old stuff (I kept EVERYTHING, neatly filed, in a cupboard. It was a mammoth and boring task, and I started with the most recent stuff and, within that, stuff that I really wanted to keep. The further back I got, the more I questioned whether I needed even a scanned copy of some things.

For my ancient no-longer-have credit cards (over 5 years old in my case), I just scanned the final closing statement and shredded the rest.

I scanned all my council tax/poll tax stuff, as there was only one per year. Also all my TV licences, because it seemed a shame not to. I scanned all my gas and electric bills for my current house, I wanted to keep the meter readings.

After scanning three years of monthly BT phone bills, I couldn't be bothered to scan the rest, and really couldn't see the point, so I just shredded them.

Bills for long dead mobile phones were shredded without scanning, I scanned just the final bill.

I scanned all loan agreements and completion statements.

I scanned all the stuff to do with our house renovations. I kept the originals of the planning permission and Building Regs approval. IO scanned my DH's divorce stuff, but kept the originals

I scanned all my old insurance certificates - cars, house, medical, dentist everything. I keep the originals for the current year then shred them when the next insurance year has started.

I scanned all my tax related stuff, incl P60s, going back as far as I could. I then keep the originals for the last six years.

I had payslips going back to when I started work in 1984, and for my husband going back to 1978. This was a big wrench. I scanned the first payslips, then the tax year end ones for each year. I also kept those for nostalgia value, and decided to shred the rest. I cried when I did that, but at the time it was 15 years worth of my payslips and they were just taking up too much space.

    Hope that helps!
  • Hello Everyone

Feeling better today, Thank You for all the extra hugs I'm sure they helped!!!

Not done much today except for sorting out my finances, not up to anything physical as I'm feeling very drained!!! At least I'm off work next week so extra time to recouperate.

Plan for next week is to strip some more wallpaper and get the walls ready for some skimming I'm having done in the 6 weeks holidays. DS going on a soccer skills course for a couple of days so he's really looking forward to that.

Anyway, have a lovely day to anyone thats celebrating and hugs to those that want/need them.

Hello to all who preceeded me, and to all who follow.
Not much going on here today. I will be going back to work on 18th June after more than a year off, so am gradually getting ready for that HUGE event. I actually feel quite positive about it, am ready to move on with my life again.

Mrs_mix - I hope the meeting at the school went okay?

Kyle - sorry to hear you're not getting on well with the new pain killers. Try not to overdo the shopping (Twink, plenty of rests!!). remeber, you've got to carry it all back and then put it away!!

Scuzz - how can they change your contract of employment without your consent?? If you refuse, are they threatening job termination (if so, you can take them to tribunal). I really would recommend you seek further advice. Im glad BF is getting better, and I think your Mum is worried about you moving so far away from her. She may be frightened she wont ever see you again. However, you have to live your own life, and she needs to understand this.

Amie - sorry I missed out on the jackets (but not sorry on missing the garlic!) - OH got very poorly yesterday and needed some TLC. I was quite worried there for a bit - but he seems a lot better today. Why does he always fall ill when he's on holiday from work??

    ..................

sorry - got sidetracked. Had call from friend who needs my help, so have to go out now. Sorry I havent been able to read rest of posts. Will try to catch up later.

To all in need - DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP HUGS (without the animal additives).

    Have a wonderful day everyone

Catowen hope your day is going well, hope that you have a nice weekend.
Wed went really well both motorways vere pretty clear which as the appointment was for 9:30 was a miriacle(SP). The Dr was also really nice and things went well. Poped to Oldham on the way back haven't been there for about 8 years:eek: (EXACTLY WHERE does the time go??) Market was on, its quite good but no match for Bury market which is fantastic and the best by far in the North west/ Gtr M/c area. AM off now will continue as an edit if I am let post this:eek:
It became clear that we wouldnt have to go back to the vets which as I am sure you will immagine delighted me. Like i say I tried to post (twice) and wasn't let Which made me cry. That was in its way useful as I had decided that I was doing ok and wouldn't go to my GP but I will take your advice and go on Wed (Its far too hectic after a bank holiday and as its a ring on the day don't fancy my chances anyway on Tue!!!) Have got more folk to talk to so will post later. Have a good day all. A XXXX

    Hi everyone!
Just off to read all your doings but hugs to those who need them.
On the OS front today...bedding and towels changed, floors swept, dark load done and hung out and the thrill of the weekly shop at MR T. Need to sort out a new tshirt and shorts for the small person for his PE kit...he's doing a country dancing festival in a couple of weeks and I dread to think what state his school kit will be in. Shall put away the new bits until the autumn afterwards. The little toad asked me last night if I'd filled out the country dancing permission slip..I said yes and he said oh good. Then this morning he's discussing loudly with his best friend how much he hates country dancing at which point his snout started to grow Pinnocchio style. Children.....aaargh...is there any way of putting them back [albeit short term only] :rotfl: :rotfl: I felt like shouting loudly "liar liar your pants are on fire" but somehow managed to resist the urge!!
Tomorrow I'm back here for the morning then I'm off to a talk given by the chief Druid as part of the interfaith forum. As a fellow Druid I'm really looking forward to hearing him speak. Afterwards I'm hooking up with my friend for a coffee. Other plans over the break are one birthday cake, finish the Dennis the Menace bedroom sign, make the small person a birthday card [it's going to be a very easy one!], bake a couple of weetabix cakes and plant up my idiot proof seeds in my pots. Yay and it's the small person's first Indian takeway with us tomorrow night as we've been sneaking chilli powder into all sorts of bolognaises etc over the last few months and he didn't even bat an eyelid when we did our bbq pasta last night which is definitely on the warmer side!
Have a great weekend...will pop in if I can evict the other residents in my abode from the pc at any point!
