We tend to go to France. We go down to the South of France or to the Vendee, we have mainly stayed in static caravans with Keycamp or Siblu. We always drive rather tan fly. This year we are staying in a lovely villa with its own pool.0

i would check on the disneyland paris website, loads of special offers around. i have been in february for the last 2 years, 1st year i got my kids free (under 12's went free) last year i got kids under 12 free and 2 free nights and days/tickets. flew easy jet and for myself/hubby and 6 kids (4 were under 12) it cost about £900 for accomodation in the cheyenne hotel for plus flights which came in at about £500 and we were there for 4 nights.
i am planning another trip for next february for myself and 3 smallest kids (older ones are getting a bit fed up as they have been about 10 times lol and hubby isn't really a big disney fan) i can get 5 nights accomodation and passes for £340 plus flights are coming in about £340 flying from glasgow which is usually slightly more expensive. Be prepared though and wear thermals if you go in february lol
over and above our disney holidays we do caravan holidays with the kids and they absolutely love them, we dont' really enjoy very hot sunny weather so caravan holidays at home are perfect for usDEBT
31/12/2018 = £21,740.10 - 31/12/2019 = £18,581.29 (14.53% PD)

our summer hols tends to be a cottage in france with a pool for a couple of weeks that way we do a day out exploring and a day in suits the kids. would have to pay me to go to Dinsey life's too short.
like to go to center parcs on mainland europe as well. kids tend to love our weekend camping trips from either north of england or just a mile down the road.

The point is, that it doesn't have to cost that much.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Kids are happy to be going anywhere on holiday.
I must admit though when I price the say Centre Parcs and it comes up expensive I think sod it may as well go abroad!
We have been to Disneyland 4 times and always loved it but never cost that much!If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
I've done Disneyland and DLP. For the cash it costs, I don't think it's worth it.
I done Disneyland Florida as a child and yes I loved the parks but I hated being on the go constantly, hated the villa we stayed in, much preferred our holidays to Cornwall and package holidays abroad where I'd meet other kids my age and spend the 2 weeks with them, splashing around in the pool, eating ice creams etc. I didn't make any friendships like that in Floridathat's just me though so my memories just aren't as great from there and I know how much my parents sacrificed to take me.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Imo that's far too dear for DLP, there's no way I would give that,
I have got to Dallas, return flights, 10 nights in a hotel with B+B, £506 each (in 2008)
Got flights and hotel (Florida 2010) for 11 nights on Int Drive for £668 per person,
So I think that's far too dear,
We also have a touring caravan and have stayed on a site around 25miles from home for £30 per nite and had a ball :-)0 -
DLP certainly not worth that! I'm with your OH.
My two have had some great holidays. We've done Center Parcs, Disneyworld Florida twice, gite in france, Haven caravan in Scarborough, Crieff Hydro in Perthshire and stayed with relatives in the US and Canada. With their dad they have also done the five star holidays where you have your own pool and butler, some place in Mexico where there was a pool inside and outside the villa - they have really been spoilt.
My DDs don't agree on much, but think their best holiday ever was when their grandparents took them camping to the west coast of Scotland. Taking the dishes to be washed in the washhouse, the communal showers, barbecue every night (i.e. primus stove!), fishing for minnows in the burns and jumping off the sand dunes.
Second comes the holidays with relatives where it hasn't been location so much as spending time with cousins and just being in a different house.
We enjoyed Disney, far more than I expected, but it's not the be-all and end-all.0 -
Thanks for the input.
I think for them to be the right age id be looking towards 2015, but even so it would have to be the right price! I think they would enjoy whatever we decided to do
Its nice to have others opinionsMFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
The look on my daughters face when it was her 5th birthday and we took her for lunch with Cinderella in the castle at Magic Kingdom is something i will never forget. She'll be 13 when we go this year, she's just as excited as she was then. So am i !
I took my son to Florida when he was 4 and Im with you. meer53.. money could never buy anything as good as the look on my sons face when he met Buzz and Woody! The most magical place on earth, we were set to go back the next year (but came home as a family of 4) baby No 2 is now 2 so Im waiting till he is 4 in 2015 and will go back then!
However I have also been to the Butlins Caravan Park at Skegness twice now and I cannot fault it at all - we paid £360 for a week last year and that inluding all entertainment, pool etc and my kids had a ball! I cant comment myself of DLP but I have heard people say that its not a good park and the French are down right rude!
This thread makes me want to go and book a holiday for this year now :eek:0
