I am not against people who genuinely need benefits - be it illness or loss of job.

What I don't like, are people with the attitude of the OP.

And would you care to explain what is wrong with the OP's attitude?

She has had a legally binding ruling that she is entitled to ESA following an independent hearing, then the paymasters (DWP) cannot give her that money she is owed in a timely manner. Do the DWP allow people that owe them money 6+ weeks to pay?

You yourself get a pension you are entitled to yet you are critical of the OP who is not getting the ESA she is entitled to? Perhaps you need to count yourself lucky you were well enough to work hmm? People who work seem to think those on ESA have a picnic- that our daily lives are like when you have a day off work. That is not the case :rotfl:

Perhaps taxpayers should be directing their scorn at the DWP for getting so many decisions wrong, resulting in money spent on Tribunals and then staff time and resources taken up in paying people what they are owed.

I have neither a Kindle nor a smart phone. I do however have a laptop.

A laptop is a computer. There are loads of other free classic books you can get too.

If you were lawfully owed money, would you not want it? like another poster I am interested in your take on the OP. Lets see, I am not a benefit basher BUT...................yeah right.

People on benefits pay tax - it is taxable as income and if it goes above the taxcode thresh hold that applies to them, it will be deducted. The reality is that most people on benefits do not receive enough money to put them into the bracket to pay tax.
They also pay VAT, insurance tax and the myriad other taxes on day to day living. To say they do not pay tax is incorrect. Just sayin.

Firstly, it isn't 'backpay', you didn't earn it.

    Secondly it isn't 'your' money , it's ours .

Thirdly , with an attitude like yours , you don't deserve any of our money.

OP How dare he/she be sick and poor!, how dare he/she want what is rightfully his/hers!, Keith has spoken you don't deserve it!

I hope those who generously thanked Keith don't want to use the NHS it's funded by our money or expect a pension that is funded by our money, I hope you don't want child benefit it is our money..........the list goes on, but sadly most like Keith believe we get nothing back.

You have made some superb points, but please don't spoil the self righteous benefit basher's fun, it is their/our money after all, we/they get nothing back apparently

    All your fault Ginger.:D

My wife has a mental illness. It's a lot harder for people with this type of illness if they are judged badly.

With something like a broken leg you can easily see it and know in about two months you will be more or less fit again.

People like my wife will never get better like that.

    Good luck Ginger.

:) Gingerlocks has won her appeal and is entitled to her arrears of ESA

whether anybody thinks its right or wrong its irrelevant, its due because of the benefit regulations as they stands at the moment

But OP there is a backlog of work unfortunately and a queue and in that queue everyone is equal and nobody has the right to jump to the front of that queue, date order should rule, but thanks for being patient and you will get your arrears eventually, I promise
