We've always used Frontline on our two but I have a couple of friends who used Bob Martin with adverse effects on their cats. Luckily they were mild and they go to the vet in time, but it could've been so much worse. I just can't understand why they're still able to sell this.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0

I would not go any were near any of their products. They have killed and made so many cats suffer far too many to number. Many many cats were so ill that they had to be put to sleep. Many cats that did pull through have suffered mentally and will have some type of scar as a remind. I say many as I have read a hundreds of posts on people relating to their bad experiences with this product. Selling a product that has poison in it and used for any type of animal should be banned and all products taken off all shelves. Cats and animals are dying and suffering every day from this killer product. They use Permethrin in their products..
Toxicology and safety information on permethrin.
Permethrin acts as a neurotoxin, slowing down the nervous system through binding to sodium channels. This action is negatively correlated to temperature, thus, in general, showing more acute effects on cold-blooded animals (insects, fish, frogs, etc.) over warm-blooded animals (mammals and birds):
Permethrin is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life in general, so extreme care must be taken when using products containing permethrin near water sources.
Permethrin is also highly toxic to cats, and flea and tick-repellent formulas intended and labeled for (the more resistant) dogs may contain permethrin and cause feline permethrin toxicosis in cats.
Very high doses will have tangible neurotoxic effects on mammals and birds, including human beings.
Permethrin is listed as a "restricted use" substance by the United States Environmental Protection Agency] due to its high toxicity to aquatic organisms.
Due to high toxicity for aquatic life, permethrin and permethrin-contaminated water should be properly disposed. Permethrin is quite stable, having a half life of 51–71 days in an aqueous environment exposed to light. It is also highly persistent in soil.
As you can see its evil and should not be used0 -
There are loads of groups in face book and many many people will tell you their situations what happened and the reaction to the pets. Some have pictures. If you want the truth join the groups and read the posts. This product is killing off our beautiful pets. There are endless complains every were. Research and you will be shocked at what you find.. Keep your pets safe and well ...stay away form Bob Martin products....0

I wont use Bob Martins products either - I have seen the damage the spot on did to my sons cat - it 'burned' the skin on his neck! so badly son had to take the cat to the vet! and know from my own experience that the wormers didn't work. ( I mean from the cats experience - I haven't taken them myself!)0

A friend's dog suffered epileptic fits for a year after a treatment with Frontline.
If you Google the name of the product and 'side effects' you will find many reports of side effects of all the spot on treatments.
They are insecticides that are absorbed by the skin and , in some cases, can cross over into the brain.0 -

That is fair comment - its just that the number of 'allergic reactions' to frontline and other treatments is very small compared to the number of complaints after BM products are used. they seem to have a 'disproportionate' number of adverse side effects.0 -
I used them, shamefully before doing research on them. I used the flea treatment on my dog and he got fleas. I went to the vets and he explained to me about them being dangerous.
I did do my own research on it afterwards (thats me though, have to check things out for myself) and I was shocked by alot of the things I read. So I never went near them again and also told friends with pets also.
Though, to be fair my dog has reactions to flea products. I dont know if it is the smell or if it hurts (no marks on skin, told the vet about it) but for 24 hours after treatment he paces around and wont settle. Happened with different flea products from different vets also.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Hi, I've applied Bob Martin Spot On to my 9 month pup this morning. I was researching to see length of time to work and order bits of info but I've come across quite a few horrendous stories. Kinda a tad bothered now. No fits or anything like that. She seems a tad quieter than normal but was on a lengthy walk yesterday so could be cause of that. Seen the comment about not bathing it off. Any ideas how long it takes to leave their skin? Feeling a tad guilty and wish I would have research before using it.
I'm confused as to how it's allowed in shops as it appears to be quite dangerous.0 -
hello anouska - if your dog hasn't had a reaction then she will probably be fine. but you may well see fleas as the dam stuff doesn't work anyway.
even though its ineffective - don't use another product straight away - the chemicals may react until the BM is out of her system. wait at least three weeks then either use one recommended by her vet or you can buy something like 'Advantage' online or at Pets at Home.
as for worming then PAH sell Drontal which is really good. available online as well.0
