Sky is a company I choose not to do business with. I am only there at present due to the change of ownership of O2 Broadband. Once I have my LL move completed I can get a MAC code from O2 and change my broadband provider.Just broke, even.0 -
They aren't cancelling the O2 contract, but have had your O2 contract assigned to them.
Nothing you can do about that.
The o2 equipment is being switched off next year. Nothing you can do about that.
Sky say that if you don't want to join them when they are ready to "migrate" you onto their equipment then you can postpone the migration and remain on O2 equipment (and your O2 terms) till they finally switch it off.
At that time you either transfer to Sky at whatever price they want at the time (though on a rolling contract, not a minimum term contract), or leave and go elsewhere.
Again, nothing you can do about that.
Thanks. My curiosity was just if they were assigned the original contract, are they bound by the contract conditions, and then if so under what terms in the contract can they stop me paying £9.50 a month for BB service, even after migrating to their equipment.
I think you probably can see where I'm going with this..
Just on another note, based on the customer service I had today from Sky, I'm unlikely to take them on any offer. It wasn't until I got through to a Scottish man in customer services did I get any sense, plus he gave me an 0800 number for future use as he couldn't give me answers at this time. Also, don't bother with the online customer assistant, they don't have a clue about the O2 transfer what so ever.0 -

No not really. If you don't like what you are offered, you can leave penalty free. You can't expect any provider to fix your £9.50 per month payment. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
This may be worth considering, as I am, for those who do not want to migrate to skytalk - thephonecoop
A year upfront -Value Line Rental - costs £120 (£10 per month equivalent) or £12.50 for those who want to pay monthly - plus various options for your calls.
Caller Plus Tarrif ,which is free of charge, looks pretty good for low usuage or ,of course, you can use 1899 etc
Worth investigating I think.0 -

As far as the price goes, the o2 contract and the sky contract allow them to increase charges (and give you a get out if you don't want to pay any increase above inflation etc)
Not a recommendation, but sky do seem to be offering cheaper deals initially to "migrate" (eg £7.50/month for 12 months) than o2 were charging.
AS far as the "contract" goes, when you transfer to Sky, they give you a new Sky contract. Take it or leave it. But if you don't like it you can (leave).
Please share the 0800 number on here as their 0844 number is a bone of contention! (0800 230 0202 is the current best way to speak to sky. Although this is o2's number, of you use option 1, 5, 2 you get routed to Sky's (sales!) office dealing with o2 migrations, where the staff are up to date on the latest bribes they can offer, and seemingly can delay migrations, though seem reluctant to put anything in writing!)0 -

What do you mean by ringing the O2 "0800" number? Don't you mean SKY? I though O2 broadband and BE broadband ceases to exist so it is ALL owned by SKY now?
Landline, anytime calls and unlimited broadband for £15pm a month is a steal, and 12 months is fine for a contract. Not very confident on the phone but would love a £75 credit too!
I mean 0800 230 0202 - it's the O2 broadband customer services number which is now answered by Sky - hence you avoid a chargeable call on 0844. Follow the options for thinking of leaving.
Be friendly on the phone and if the offer you want isn't forthcoming, you can ask if they can better it, or say a friend has got a similar offer but with a £75 credit, could they do that.
If you don't like the offer, say you'll think about it and try again a few hours or a day later.0 -

This is the same 0800 number I was given. Fill your boots0 -
More info. here (hence my panic):

Plus I read that SKY has now got some content filter for every user to select from (Cameron's p*rn / adult filter coming true?)
BT want £16pm for Unlimited broadband (18 month contract but free for first 6 months) and they still want to charge me for eve & w/end calls
So that'd be still over £31pm for broadband and calls with BT after 6 months, hardly moneysaving (that's without the 12 month upfront line rental payment though).0 -

That is not a retention offer, that is the price advertised to all on their website. To get the inclusive evening and weekend calls you only needed to commit to 12 months which you would be doing if you went for the line rental saver option.
If you want to stay with BT you need to talk to their retentions dept. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I was with O2 on a 'free BB for 12 month deal' and paying £10.50 for line rental til March 2014. Got the letter through that said with various discounts and charges for not having Sky TV it was going to be £17.40 for unlimited BB + line rental.
I rang this evening and before I could open my mouth they offered unlimited BB + line rental (with weekend calls) and a new router all for £7.50 a month and a £40 credit.
Others may have had better deals but for those who don't want TV or to use the landline for calls then I think this is a fab offer - very pleased :beer:0
