You haven't committed fraud, so any threats of the police etc is just bullcarp to frighten you.

These catalogues and the likes have been very greedy in the past however it's coming back to bite them on the bum now because they will be having cashflow problems.

Stop speaking to them over the phone, do not speak to them at the door either.

Write to them and say that all communication from them must be in writing.

Put your offer to them in writing - don't go overboard by panicking and offer too much thereby leaving you nothing to live on.

If you had committed fraud then you wouldn't be making any offer of payment so they are wrong. You would be saying you'd never received anything, the stuff was stolen blah-blah.

They are getting the exact reaction they wanted, take the control away from them and make a reasonable offer and ask them to stop adding interest whilst they are at it.

Did you have any payment protection on this account? This can be reclaimed, it wouldn't hurt to ask them for a copy of the credit agreement you have with them either. Show them you mean business!

These debt collecting idiots are not learning anything it would seem.

Do as kittie j says and write to them offering payments that you can . Afford, hang fire with the large payment offers just go with the regular payment offer and see what comes back with.

Secondly, write again complaining about this clowns behaviour as he is so far over the debt collecting guidelines it not even funny. Accusing you of fraud, calling the police! Dear me.

Complain to them stressing you will take this further if they do not deal with this monkey, and follow it through by complaining the financial ombudsmen.

They don't need to learn anything - they are panicking OP with smoke and mirrors. Despite the good advice here, OP seems unfortunately to be taking the lies this one spouts far too seriously.

needpracticaladvice: Do not deal with these people on the door or on the phone. They can get away with telling you stuff that you could never hold them to account for. You do not have to deal with them by phone or in person and given how you take his lies so seriously, you should stop talking to them on the phone or at the door. Just deal with them in writing.

And don't be panicked into making stupid offers which you cannot deliver on. It just gives them more excuses to harass you.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • I do appreciate all the advice. And yes your completely correct I am panicking after he emailed my landlord. I have been physically ill.

Why is he bothering your LL about this? It's nothing to do with the LL.

Complain to ICO about his behaviour, smells like desperation to me and I am certain that if he thought for one minute the Police would take this seriously then why has he not just gone to them? His Police threats don't make sense. I would call his bluff and say either man up and report me or eff off and stop talking clap-trap.

More than likely he's got targets to meet and this is the reason for the aggressive antics.

Report him to the OIC, for breaching the DPA.

Can you ask your LL to forward the e--mail to you, please. You need to have that one record.

Put in a formal complaint about this twerp to shop-direct.

    1. Libel
    2. Misrepresenting his powers.
    3. Breach of the DPA.

You need to do this because some authorities require you to allow those committing breaches to correct the situation before you can escalate the complaint.

Contact the Information Commissioner Office. And take a copy of the e-mail to CAB for advice.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • What he said to the landlord is he has evidence that a crime had been committed but could not discuss what due to data protection.

Im close to calling his bluff because im close to a nervous breakdown, ive never been in trouble in my life for so much as a parking ticket. Yes I should have stopped ordering, in hindsight I was accruing to much debt.
