I wouldn't beleive anyone who just arrived on my doorstep like that saying they were from some compnay or another. I wouldn't tell them my name and I wouldn't let them in. Who knows who he was. He could have been a burglar casing your house. "Regional Loss Prevention Manager?" Yes, such a grand title. Who knows if such people really exist at ShopDirect.

You were right, OP, to not tell them who you were. He's lucky you didn't phone the police and report him for threatening behaviour.

Ok, best thing to do is to send them a complaint, in writing, complaining that are refusing the payment offers that you can reasonable afford to make and ask them why they are doing so?

This will make them listen a bit as they can't ignore easily as you can refer to FOS if they do.

Likely they will be a bit more reasonable as they will have to document why they are refusing to help you/accept your offer, which might come in useful later.

they do as I had a visit from them when yodel left my details on the doorstep
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

  • No it was none of these people. May I also add that he never made me aware who he was until he posted the business card through my door after his chat. Im worried to death with all this chat about fraud

You haven't committed fraud so nothing could ever come of it. These are just threats by some jumped up debt collector who bandies about the word fraud to scare you.

He said it is about the debt.... because with charges etc it is £13k! They consider what ive done as fraud I guess to run up that much and not make payments. ... he said he is going to see if his bosses will accept that but I cannot afford anything else its really that simple... but I am scared if they don't accept it....

I have offered £1000 today and another £2000 in 3 months followed by oayments of £200 a month... h

So did you order loads of stuff and just not pay anything

Or did you order stuff make some payments but have a change in circumstances?

They need to take some responsibility for supplying goods to the tune of £10k - that's a big account!

Stop worrying and keep everything in writing, if it's in black and white they can't then backtrack.
Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £2000
  • Well ive had the account for nearly 4 years and yes I was struggling to repay and after last order hadnt made a payment. .. but my worry is even if they agree lets say ive repaid £4000 then I cant afford to keep to 5his arrangement later they come back and threaten with police again
  • I take it you didn't actually make any false statements, when applying for the account?

If so, then I think they would struggle, to get a conviction for fraud.
