Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I'm contemplating this deal from Sky... the free BB and Sky Extra+ for a year. But, I can't get over the fast that 0845 numbers are not included in the call package.

Still wonder if I should go with it though. In the end, it maybe good. I want to know if anyone has seen any massive decreases in speed overall after the move and settling period into Sky BB?

Also, they are offering the fibre optic service for half price for the first 6 months @ £10/month, and then reverts to £20/month. Not bad given it's completed unlimited.

Any other opinions of the service so far?

So I just signed up, very excited about it all and then *WAIT*........

I had a thought. Did I need to do something to cancel my O2 BB contract first?

It runs out in September, but I don't fancy paying for 2 months of contract that I won't even be using..

What have other people done about it? Or should it end automatically?

To answer my own question, I just rang the O2 - Sky helpline who told me my O2 BB account will be closed the day my Sky BB is activated!

Soon to be paying £4.75 pm less that I was with the luxury of Sky TV for a whole year! Exited is an understatement!

Ahhh. I was thinking the same thing when I moved from O2 to Sky. I wasn't in a contract fortunately so I could move to anyone. The O2 guy told me, if your in a contract and move to Sky, you wont be charged as Sky owns them now. However if your in a contract and move elsewhere say oh umm Talk Talk, then you will be charged an early cancellation fee. Please double check this.

Also since you have already purchased, you need to provide O2 a 7 days notice that your leaving. Without this they WILL charge you! Also Sky will let them know that your moving and Sky will provide them your switch over date. But provide a 7 days notice thats your leaving, to avoid silly charges.

    You still helped so thanks!

I got a couple of emails through this evening from O2 saying BT have told them the line is to be changed to a different company and if I didn't phone in the next 3 days I'd be cut off..

So another phone call, and after being put through to a couple of departments I was told that Sky has set a termination date (which matches the date they go live) and that there is nothing else I have to do, my contract will be cancelled and there will be no cancellation fees. I think I'll take your advice still and phone 7 days prior to the switch to make sure everything is going according to plan!

I used the online chat last night to speak with sky about the early transfer deal. My o2 contract doesnt expire until 15th july but the offer letter expires in 28th june. They told me the phone line transfer takes 2 weeks, but the bb takes a further 6 wirking days on top if that. Im really confused. When i swapped from bt to o2 it was all done on the same day, so why dont sky do the same?

Might call them as i wasnt too confident with the answers i was given but has anyone else been told this?

Glad you asked! Switch over went ahead really smoothly. Suddenly my O2 Broadband stopped working and had a red light on the router and the dial tone was sort of funny, sort of like a melody but not the usual dial tone. So I connected up the new router and tadaaa! Started to work. Had to set up this parental control that popped up when I opened the browser (I set it to off). Dial tone was still funny sounding. But after an hour became normal. Download speed at about 2.92mbps with upload at 0.50. I should be getting 19mbps and 1.10mbps. But they say 10 days I shall wait for it to increase.

LOL very detailed, but overall experience great!

And yes... I just got connected with minimal fuss :j Broadband and phone seem to be working normally - just don't ask me about speeds because I wouldn't have a clue where to look for those!! Not as daunting as I thought it may be - Thanks!

Ahh good to know. Sky has proved me wrong. I always thought they would be rubbish from ready reviews. Lesson learnt, don't believe everything you've read....:)

Hi uddin_1995, just wondering if your speed came up? I have had issues with connections and speed with sky BB before so I am nervous about taking a 12 month contract with them.

Anyone know what the early termination fee would be if I took the TV and BB offer, but the broadband wasnt good enough and I had to cancel after a month or two?

    Thanks
