  • I'm already a sky tv customer but am with O2 for mobile and broadband, will I get the offer I wonder? Also I have paid BT upfront for my line rental which isn't due again until October, wonder if they'd extend the offer until then.

You could try cancelling Sky in your name and setting it up in your wife/girlfriends name but if you don't have a wife/girlfriend then I suppose sort that out first:D

I'm female and don't swing that way ;) :rotfl:

Guess I could put it in DH's name but that means another 12 month contract. I wonder if Virgin may do a deal? Also I have 10 months free BB from O2, when Sky take over will they still honour it I wonder?

I've just posted this on the internet forum......

If your already a Sky TV customer the only thing they offer is free broadband for a year as long as they take over the line rental and that was after 2 hours on the phone talking to various people however last night I managed to get hold of the broadband team on a 0800 number and these people knew exactly what I was talking about in regards to the free tv + broadband for 12m for existing O2 broadband customers and the advise the pleasant lady gave was to disconnect the existing sky package in the wife's name and effect a new package in my name and if I pay for the line rental upfront for the year the next 12m would be bill'less..woohoo

So I paid the £119.50 for the 12m line rental = £9.95 per month as this has saved me a bundle as I was paying Sky £28.75,BT £22.45,O2 £4.75 =£55.95 x 12 = £551.90 saved for the year.

Sorry, just assumed you was a bloke :o

Why is a 12 month contract an issue if the TV and Broadband is free?

If you naturally migrate to Sky they will honour whatever existing deal you have with O2

Was it my stubbly chin that did it? ;) :rotfl:

I don't like long contracts as I've had too many bad experiences of poor service and being stuck with it for a year, I do have some but try my best to avoid them.

I think I'm going to have to do my sums and see what is best for me, I have Sky entertainment on half price @ £10.39 and as its not on a contract I can add sports or movies for just a month at a time when wanted, I have paid my phone rental upfront to BT and pay for their anytime which covers all my calls including 0845 which Sky doesn't and I've got my BB free from O2, thanks for your help though :)

Good to hear your happy, but I have already stumbled across a problem after ordering Sky. They didn't apply my offer code for free broadband and tv! They said they will fix it, so waiting on that. Also they accidentally applied half price line rental for a year! Im not complaining. Hehe....

I have been with O2 for years and contract came up at the end of April. Called O2 to cancel and was offered 12 months free, when I hesitated they offered me £200 off my mobile bill. Now Sky have emailed me this offer!!

My question is, I have never had Sky and I do not have a dish. If I accepted this offer, would I need to pay for a dish to be fitted?

yes i was wondering the same - it's a good offer but i can't be bothered to pay for installation... i only want Sky TV if it's free - it's not something i would pay for out of choice if you know what I mean.

I think installation would be free it usually is.
