Again, where does it say that you are obligated to pay more than the actual cost of postage and packing? I always pay if I win.
Here:

Sellers may add a reasonable postage and packing fee to the final price of their item. A postage and packing fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Postage and packing fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price
So will you now accept that P&P can be more than the actual postage and packing costs and that this commentYes, you are. If a charge is listed it should be the charge for that service; the listing shows postage and packing, nothing else, no parking, no labour costs, no petrol, just postage and packing. So the amount shown should be for that, if it isn't, the seller is in breach of contract. Which is why Ebay deploy the system they do.
is incorrect?0 -
I think that the point of this thread has been made many times over, Now it's just banter and close to missing the point altogether.IWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0

I've completely lost track of what's going on.
Surely P&P charges relate to the direct costs of sending an item:
stamps/postage/courier cost
packaging materials, such as, jiffy bags, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, boxes, tape and labels
% of actual P&P costs to paypal for receiving payment
If you're not charging the full amounts for these items how can you afford to keep selling items?0 -

That directly contradicts the Ebay link I gave earlier. So, no.0 -

You factor those into your starting price.0 -

I run a combination of slightly undercharging, inclusive post and a little above costs. The variations depend on the items and how competitive they are. I also run a combined offer for items I charge postage on.
The key is to make customers think they are getting the best deal so they buy again whilst staying profitable.
As this thread largely proves the days of thinking of a number for postage are long gone, buyers don't like it.
To sum up if you put a second class stamp on an item and charge £10 for postage don't expect to keep your Ebay account for long, even if your overall price was a fair one..0 -
Just to clarify are those people suggesting we sellers should add all our costs, petrol etc into the p and p costs confident that this will still mean we will not get poor stars because of it? Are you all finding that you can charge what you want and still get 5* and that the people being restricted for having too many lows are somehow mistaken or just unlucky?
In the last few months we have had posts from sellers both business and private, who have suffered restrictions due to low stars (1 or 2 * in p and P), are they mistaken then?
Otherwise this whole discussion is pointless, if charging to excess can mean being restricted then why risk it?
I am worried that new sellers may feel that because all these random people on an internet forum categorically state they can charge what they want they may be less than impressed if it ultimately leads to a restriction and costs them money by not being able to sell their unwanted goods on a private account, or affect their fledgling business.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. good_advice wrote: »Hi. I have just bought a box set of dvds and are very pleased to have won the bid.
The postage however is a different story...
I paid £4 p&p. The envelope says postage paid £2.60 and for the envelope would suggest 20p = total postage to seller £2.80.
I have asked for a part refund of £1.20 for the over charge on postage.
The seller wants to give me a total refund for dvds and postage as long as I send the dvds back at my expense.
I wish to keep the dvd box set and just have the part refund of postage of £1.20.
What should I do?
