    Hi fizzypops,

I use half washing powder and half soda crystals. Better results than washing powder alone and cheaper. :)

These threads should give you more ideas:

  • Sainsburys own was good but they use too much bleach i used to buy it if it was on offer like 2 boxes of tablets for a fiver. It discoloured my clothes so i always stick to branded powders
  • I used to use the Asda own brand non-bio tablets when I was a student, and I found them to be perfectly OK for getting rid of stains.

I normally buy Persil Non Bio tablets but have started buying Almat Non Bio tablets from Aldi. I think they got a Good Housekeeping award so I thought I would give them a try.

I think its's just under £3 for a box of 36 tablets ie 18 washes but I only use one tablet if I am just refreshing clothes.

My husband used to come out in a rash if I used anything other than Persil but he has been fine with these.

Yep, they got an award for them.

They may well have but as Aldi received the award I would probably go for that one, assuming Good Housekeeping tested brands from both companies.

I use Fairy or Persil non-bio because of sensitive skin, but always stock up on BOGOFS and deals. Skip the expensive fabric softener and use white vinegar instead. A tablespoon of that in the rinse and my clothes come out lovely and soft.

I don't smell like a chip shop either.

Lidl's washing powder is lovely! It has a yummy smell which I can't explain but is so nice and snuggly- a bit like a baby's smell! I am allergic to everything under the sun (including the sun actually) but their non bio and their white fabric conditioner which is the nicest smell ever is fine for me.

I would also recommend their black bin bags with the yellow ties. They are the best bin bags in existence!
