I use Asda own brand (not value) and it's good for my skin. Tried sainsburys own brand but that is too perfumed and makes me itch. The Asda stuff is hardly perfumed at all which I think helps matters.

I use asda smart price washing powder...smll box is 50-60p and huge box is £1.49 I think..and I buy some softner to go with it...alot cheaper think it cost me about £2.49 for both every 3-4 weeks..for a family of 4..washing 3-4 times a week:j

I can't believe you only wash this many times for a family of 4.

I wash about twice a day every day for the 4 of us, although this will be reducing as DH is leaving :j :j

He has 2 showers a day and shoves everything he takes out this wardrobe into the wash - worn or not.

baby is 4 months too so he gets 2 changes a day. DS1 takes after father - changes all the time. I've taken to lock his door during the day to stop him pulling everything out.

I'm going to aim for 4 washes a week now

I've used the ASDA smart price liquid and the fabric conditioner. I still have over half a bottle left as it bought hubby out in a funny rash:eek: and I couldn't get the stains out of DD's school shirts with it. It's ok when I bung some soda crystals in with it for heavy stains. I tend to use it now when the nets need washing.

At the mo I'm using Tesco own brand stuff, BIG box for three pound summat and it's very good. Gets the whites up lovely. I tend these days to only use half the amount too after following advice on here and it hasn't made that much difference to the wash.

my two lads both suffer terribly with excema and i used fairy non bio, most off the time, after finding ariel, bold, daz made them worse, then one day a nurse at the clinic were they attend for treatment, asked if i had tried netto's own brand non bio, as lots of parents had commented on it. well i went out and bought some, and haven't looked back since, there skin is soo improved they just see the gp now an again instead of the hospital clinic
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
  • I use the value/smart brand from either Tesco or Asda and only use 1 tablespoon in the main drawer and no fabric conditioner. If the wash is really mucky (DH farms and the two boys are puddle-crazy) then I put a prewash on with nothing in the compartment - pretty much everything comes out as clean as a whistle and with no nasty residues. Occassionally I have to put something through again with a bit of extra attention, but I can't remember the last time...
    Is it home time yet?

I have bad eczema and used to use Fairy non bio, about a month ago, I switched to Tescos non bio for price reasons and can honestly say I have not seen the difference, it works just the same but is saving me money :j

We have the Lidl non-bio, which has been fine for us (I have to be careful, too, with reactions from certain washing powders.)
Do you know someone who uses the cheaper powder who wouldn't mind letting you have a cupful, or washing one item of clothing in with theirs for you to test it?

I can also back Lidl non-bio tablets - £2.08 a box. I have used these without problems.

I have also used a laundry ball from Lakeland without issue - I think they are £6 for about 200 washes
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I'm trying to save money on my washing powder (Persil biological) and recently bought the Tesco Value automatic washing powder. Despite using soda crystals in with the powder like a good OSer, the clothes are not as clean as they should be.

Lidl currently have their Formil Colour washing powder (5kg) on offer for £3.99. Had anyone tried this, and is it any good? I've asked over on the Lidl thread, but no-one has replied.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
