    Hi sexymouse,

There are some mentions of lidl's washing powder on this thread so I've added your post to it.

This thread may help too: Washing Powder cheaper?

I've tried the Lidl powder and found it worked fine. Had a slightly strange smell, but not offensive.
  • I usually buy Value laundry liquid and it normally comes in a 1 litre container which last week cost 66p, this week they have changed it to a 2 litre container at £1.62! A 30p price hike in a week  . It is all these little changes that certainly do not help.

I use Sainsburies own brand. I started using Fairy non-bio as both DS's and hubby have sensitive skin and mild excema. But then I decided to switch and see what happened - so far, so good and it's so much cheaper especially when on special offer. When you get through as much washing as we do - you certainly notice the difference.

I always used fairy non bio as anything else caused itching scratching and usually a dose of thrush. I took a gamble and switched to the sainsburys non-bio a couple of weeks ago and so far so good....

I use Asda Smart price at 50p a small box (no saving by buying the bigger box) and occasionally something more expensive in a battered box from reduced counter. I have a fancy tin for keeping it in! I suggest you give it a try and if it doesn't suit you can always use it for soaking burnt on oven/barbecue grids, sinks etc
  • Hello everyone :hello:

Firstly, do you think liquid or powder is better? I have been using DAZ for a while now but it doesn't get my clothes very clean.

I am terrible housewife.. :( :embarasse So would you please share with me your clothes washing tips?

What washing powder/liquid do you find good and do you always add stain remover ? ( I have been adding Vanish recently with a little success)

Many thanks in advance for your replies. :A

    I use the basics/value/smartprice one.
Rather than using vanish, try some soda crytals in the wash and give any noticeable marks a rub over with some soap before washing.

Also make sure there is not too much in the washer, leave room for the water :D

  • I get
a large box of Daz powder 2.5k @ £4.50 ish
    a large Tesco value powder 3k @ £1.54
and a packet of soda crystals 50p

I mix them all together and put it back into Daz boxes throw the value box out before anyone notices and it works out at about £6.54 for 80 washes thats only 8p per wash.

Daz tablets used to cost me 19p per wash.

Any stains get a squirt of vanish stain remover first or a soak in a bowl with soda crystals and hot water.

No doubt someone will be along to tell you about Stardrops and Vinegar soon
