    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is a chance that Credit Card companies might close your account and demand the full amount back.

I really want to claim all the charges but am afraif they will close my account as I can't pay back the thousands of pounds owed to them.

    Thanks
  • I've been charged lots of times for late payments on my store cards, can I claim for these.

Hello, when claiming back credit card charges. Do you use the same Bank Template and also include the £10.00 fee?

    Many Thanks:confused:

Depending on the credit card company, you do not need to include £10. Capital One sends statements for free, and all you have to do is call them. But the templates are fine.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I decided not to send my £10 with the last batch of crdit cards and store card letters. Some of them wrote to me asking me to supply them with the money, one of them just sent the list without asking for payment, and another one has since gone over the 40 days and consequently, i am not paying them for info as they have not upheld their end of things. You may find if you send the £10 and they go over the 40 days, they will send the payment back.

No they won't do this. They may tell you that you cant use the card any longer (if indeed you do still use it), but they can't just ask for all the money back. If in addition to the charges, you are financial difficulty, you can just put together an Income and Expenditure form to prove to them that you cannot afford a huge payment.

Can anyone please confirm what I can claim back for on CC, I cannot find any links or information on here?

    Thanks

    CAN BE CLAIMED

    Account misuse fee
    Cheque return fee
    Card misuse fee
    Unarranged borrowing fee
    Unauthorised overdraft fee
    Unpaid DD fee
    Unpaid cheque fee
    Unpaid standing order fee
    Exceeding Authorised Overdraft Limit
    Exceeding Unauthorised Overdraft Limit
    Direct Debit/Standing Order/Cheque returned fee
    Irregular fee
    Paid refferal fee
Total charges (HSBC personal accounts only, not business accounts)

    Credit Card/Store Cards/Catalogues

    Late payment fee
    Over limit fee

    CANNOT BE CLAIMED

    Cash Machine Withdrawal Fees (ATMs)
    Account Service Charges
    Service Fee / Annual Fee
Charges related to foreign currency transactions and conversions.
Monthly account fees on certain type of accounts (such as RBS Royalties)
    Normal overdraft interest charges

    Contractual interest

This is what you see on your bank statements charged by the bank when you go overdrawn. It appears on your statement as 'INTEREST', or 'INT'.

There are normally two different interest rates charged. A lower rate is charged when you are overdrawn, but still within your agreed overdraft limit. Under no circumstances can this interest be reclaimed. There is a higher rate of interest (up to 29.9%) charged when you go over your overdraft limit (unauthorised overdraft). This is a bit trickier to deal with. You cannot claim any of this interest if your spending has caused you to go over your overdraft limit, but you can claim this interest on any bank charges that have caused this. The problem with this is working out the interest only on the charges. It can be difficult to get right, and you have to be very accurate with your figures in case the bank at any stage challenges them. Generally, most people don't claim this interest.

    Hope this helps. :D

I sent all letters to credit card companies and banks without the £10, I did put in my letters if they did require a payment to contact me immediately and it will of affect the 40 days. Barclays sent them out free and I’m still waiting for capital One and Barclaycard, but only posted them a couple of days ago. I phoned Natwest on 0800 0154212 pressed option 1 to request statements, at first they said there would be a small charge, but by the end of the call the lady said she would send them out for free.
