Arrrgggghhh my post just disappeared I hate that :mad:

I'm on my way to recovery after a mad weekend it was nice to get out but I must remind myself that I am not 18 anymore and although it's great fun socialising all weekend I will suffer :rotfl:

In financial news I am just about to round down the bank account and pay £4.24 off the Next account :j:j , I have not been overdrawn at all:j , I haven't needed to borrow money:j, I've stayed within budgets:j and I have money In my purse :j . All is looking good

I got a housing benefit payment today ,normally I borrow some of it for other stuff and then scrimp, save and fail to pay it back but not today all the money is sitting in the "Rent" account waiting till payday :j:j

As expected the Ex has not "Dropped money off" for DD school trip infact he has gone AWOL  .the money was due in today and although I had the money myself and have paid.I wish he wouldn't offer to pay if he won't or can't

In other news my parents have booked and paid for a holiday for me and DD to go away in August ,naturally I am delighted and very grateful however I am slightly annoyed .

There has been a few discussions over the last few weeks about mine and DD holiday I told them that we wouldn't be having one as money was a bit tight (they don't know the full extent of debts ) they offered to pay and I kindly told them not to as it wasn't just about the cost of a holiday ,it was the financial side for things such as spending money ,cattery fees , airport charges ,new clothes , suncream etc etc anyway they have ignored what I have said and booked it for us as a surprise

Now need to sit down and work out how I'm gonna save the money needed for a week in the sun ready in time for August :o

    Morning all ,

Just checked bank accounts and everything looks like it should ,

Paid another few pence off of next this morning and have updated my signature .I'm shocked what a few pounds here and there can mount up to in a week , just waiting patiently for payday so I can pay bigger amounts off and get it cleared .

Off to weight watchers this morning in the hope of looking fab for our surprise beach holiday........

Thats all folks , have a good day

Yup. Old age apparently. I've had the same problem... :o

    Fantastic! :T:T Very well done!!

It's great that you're getting away on holiday, but like you say, it's not just the cost of the actual holiday you gotta budget for. There's clothes/creams/lotions etc. before you go, then food/treats/souvenirs when you're away :o
You're on top of your ££ at the minute. Keep doing what you're doing and stay focussed and you will be able to save for your holiday :D

  • Hi Dollie :)

I too was caught in the vicious circle of bank charges/ overdraft fees/ debt payments right before my LBM! We'd end up paying nearly all our income onto charges & creditors minimum payments that we were forced to use credit cards to live off of each month!

Where are you planning your holiday? Have you got a pot for that already? I'd love to go away but with 5 of us I can't see it happening until the debt has gone (booooo)!

    Evening ,

Stroppy pre-teen in this house :o so I thought I would come on here to escape and ignore the stomping, banging and crashing coming from the DD bedroom ;)

Received a letter from the bank today ,apparently when I called last week and got the charges refunded it was past on to some department or other and they have written to say " we can see that charges have regularly been applied to your account ....to help we will reverse £50 of pending charges and will cancel any charges incurred between last statement date and the date of this letter ":j

Spoke to mum and dad today about "the holiday" just a general chat about saving money for spending etc they go on to say that the holiday includes spending money and that they wouldn't just book a holiday for us and not include spending funds after I had told them weeks ago that i wouldnt be able to afford it . aFter I protested that they can't do that ,it's too much money etc etc they both told me to Basically shut up it's a gift and if they want to treat their daughter and grandaughter they will :rotfl::D:D

Although that Relieves some pressure I would still like to have my own funds .

    1) clear next by end of the month freeing up £40

    2) pay minimum payments to staff card

    3) split the spare £40 from next debt put half to staff card and half to holiday fund .

    4) rounding down bank account and any spare/unexpected funds towards holiday fund

    5) aim to save £500 for holiday fund any more is a bonus

    6) once reached holiday fund target pay DD school trip £230

    7) monies left from holiday :rotfl: towards Ddschool trip and staff card

  • Your doing well!!

Have you done a SOA to work out exactly how much you spend? People on here have great saving suggestions for things like utility bills, food shops etc..

    I hear you about the pre-teen :eek::o;)

:T to your bank! Result!! :D

And :D to your parents too!! That is soooo sweet! It does take the pressure off you loads, but you've still the opportunity to save a bit for yourself too before then :)

Have a great day. Hope it's sunny
