A BB Gun and a Minor Facial Injury

A group of 13yo girls teasing a group of 13yo boys has become racially motivated bullying and OP's daughter is the baddie, not the boy who shot a BB gun at her? Incredible.
This whole thread really has got out of hand with some people's overactive imagination. It's no wonder kids today are kept indoors playing video games.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

The "terrorist" comment is typical of gobby teenagers. My son says his Bangladeshi mate's nickname is "Terrorist", his black mate has the nickname "King Kong" because he is so big and tall and my son (the short kid) is regularly called "Jew boy" or "Schmal" (sp?) because he looks like the kid in the movie "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" I personally think it's dreadful but I do know all of the kids, they're all good mates, it's just how they talk to each other.
All kids insult each other at school, it's not always evidence of bullying, although I know that serious bullying can start with simple name-calling. But brandishing a BB gun and firing it at someone's face, accidentally or not, needs to be addressed. Of course, if OP's daughter has been picking on a kid, that needs to be addressed also.
Good luck OP, I hope the boy's parents are mortified and deal with him accordingly. As I'm sure you will with your daughter if necessary. Do let us know how you get on."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
yes good luck. hopefully it can be sorted out.0

So do I involve the police or not? I'm genuinely undecided. These days they get so heavy handed over the slightest thing and in my day a clip round the ear and a stiff bollocking from the local copper was sufficient to learn a lifetime lesson. Of course it was clearly a case of assault but it's a question of maintaining proportion tbh.
Ideas anyone please?
Cheers
Unless the boy in question has been the subject of some very nasty bullying, then police. Deliberately aiming a BB gun at someone is way, way out of order....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I have to wonder why hospital would report firearm injuries to SS and not the police? strange. you would think it would be the other way round?0

I've heard it several times.
Once, for example, when OH wanted to take DS to Israel during half-term, which would have meant him missing 2 days of school, too. OH said to me, "I'm going to play the race card, and make a point of the religious festivals that week."...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
These are thirteen year old kids for goodness sake. Its what they do. There is a boundary between these soppy games and actual premeditated theft with the intention to keep. No-one in her year has crossed it yet to my knowledge and if she were to then the consequences for her at my hand would be severe. She knows that.
Cheers
I don't think it's theft, but I do think it's a pretty unpleasant way for your daughter to have behaved, and that you shoudl make that clear to her....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
If it was me i would be speaking to parents and expecting a happy outcome via that route..
Far too many people jump straight to the police when a better outcome for ALL concerned could of been attained...
The police are a iron rod used to break a nut far too often...
As members of society it should be us sorting our problems out and not the state. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

I had much the same thoughts as well particularly given the OP isn't claiming their daughter is completely innocent but is understandably concerned about a BB pellet being shot in the daughter's face which could have potentially been a lot worse.
I was bullied a lot when I was younger and I had a BB gun at one point but would never consider aiming it at anyone, in fact it never left the house. In principle they don't sound like much but they are very much capable of doing damage and also their accuracy can be unreliable. I would have thought it's something the school should also be concerned about but having not dealt with it myself I don't know the best approach but hopefully it can be resolved before someone is more permanently injured by the bb gun.

Not only was she lucky but so was he - next time he could do someone a serious injury.
Not read all the thread, so maybe someone's already suggested that.Signature removed for peace of mind0
