    Mornign ladies.

My lady let me go early yesterday so I did a lightening dash to town and got some sun cream and a new frock or two for my hols a week today.

Today will be very busy after school with an appointment at the bank to open DS2 and account. DS3 at orienteering club. Dinner then DS3 at cricket, DS2 at a football match and me at Pilates. Pilates will only happen if I can get DD1 to collect DS3 from cricket and DS1 to look after DD2 while I am out. DH will be at the football with DS2.

I've cleaned the en-suite this morning and the kitchen is nearly there, just the DW to unload.

I'm going to walk the kids to school now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I need some advice, not flying related but BD / doctor related :o but I don't really have anyone else to ask.
I've been signed off by the doctor for a long time. I had to change doctors as my original was much help and didn't even bother trying to get me a counsellor.
Anyway, I don't like this new doctor very much. I get the feeling from the way he talks and is with me that he doesn't believe that I'm depressed. He obviously doesn't like giving me the sick notes I need to get my ESA, but he has finally sorted out a counsellor for me.
I have had one meeting with her out of the 6 I am allowed and now she's been ill for 2 weeks.
I was sent for a medical for my ESA and basically didn't get enough points and was told it was cancelled and that I had to sign on for job seekers. This obviously really upset me as I know that getting and keeping a job is just not possible at the moment.
After this I basically thought **** it I won't bother going back to the doctor and I won't bother with my meds that don't work anyway as noone believes me anyway.
I went for my signing on interview and the man said that he used to work with people suffering from depression and mental illness and that he didn't believe I was ready for work. He said I had to appeal against it and helped me with the paperwork.
My problem is I now don't know what to do regarding sick notes. I'm not getting ESA or JSA at the moment but I'm worried that if I don't have a sick note it'll make things worse. I'm so scared about making an appointment with the doctor even though my mum will go with me. I'm scared he won't give me a sick note as I hadn't bothered going back when it run out and haven't got a repeat prescription as I stopped taking the meds. I just don't know what to do now.
I would be grateful for any advice please.

    Morning all

We have sunshine. DS2 has a stonking cold, DS3 doesn't feel great and neither does DS1. All instructed to soldier on for now. I don't feel great either.

Narco - hate the floor and have decided we will not be living with. Just need to decide what to do. We could try to strip it again and beach and seal or just order carpet. May consider painting it. Very disappointed but it is not the end of the world, worsethings happen at sea.

    WM on
    Bed stripped
Plan is a cuppa and tidy up downstairs then to hoover and mop everywhere I can get to.

    Morning

Day at home today. All washed / dressed / fed. Kiddies playing teachers and I'm sorting laundry. Dailies sorted (beds made, kitchen s&s).

Don't know if I'm hayfever-ish or getting a bug but I'm a bit sniffly and chesty. Don't feel unwell, just annoying cough. Have found the haymax in case it's pollen. Thinking about it my eyes are a bit dry (but that could be from being up before 4 two days in a row ;)). Hmm. Piriton, anyone?

Found some roast dinner in freezer so got that out for later. DS wants me to go up in the loft, I think we've had this conversation before so I'll go up and see what's he's after.

Am also going to give the fireplace a good clean today. Looks grotty.

    Posivibes all round!

Been at job 2 straight after job 1 so limited flying (TMD how do you manage 5 jobs plus a family? - hats off to you)

With a huge stick and military precision! They are all part-time (2 are employed and 2 are self-employed). Job 1 is 17 hours over 3 days/evenings. Job 2 is 6 hours, split Tue/Wed mornings or all in one day, whichever fits in best with me and my employer. Thursday is Jobs 3 and 4 @ 2 hours each and I have the flexibility not to work School holidays if I choose not to.

I am really lucky to have flexible Employers who understand family life - Clubs/Parents Evenings/School Productions etc., etc., and they change to accommodate my needs.

The catering I do is Job 5 which is just a hobby really which I feel confident enough to do and I can make a bit of pocket money out of it at the same time. That is the really stressful one as there is no room for error. It takes major planning, shopping, cooking and delivery for it all to go like clockwork, but the stress keeps me on my toes. If I sat down and worked out my hourly rate on this one, it really isn't worth doing at all, but it challenges me and I enjoy it.

Before I had children, I worked for RBS (boo, hiss ) for 13 years as the Director's Secretary doing a 100-mile round trip each day, 6 days a week, so I had to be organised. There was no way I could have continued doing the job with children, so I took the difficult decision to quit and have never looked back. According to Cosmo magazine, I have a "portfolio career" now, which is becoming very popular with Mum's like me who enjoy working, but still need to be around for School runs and holidays. It also means during this Recession, that if one was to go, it will not have too much impact on the finances.

Where we live around here, a lot of Mum's try to find work in schools to accommodate their children, but as it's rural, there is less opportunity to do this than others who live in a City.

The downside is that something has to give and it's usually the house which is why I am so glad to have found you guys.:j

JellyBox Don't be downhearted if there are days when you don't make progress. I generally stay on top of the washing up and that's about it. When I have energy I blitz something and every time I do, that area gets closer to how I want the whole house to be. I've developed a few new helpful habits over the past year or so of being new to Flying and you'll soon realise what tiny adjustments make a big difference in your house. Everything you do is a step forward and you'll get there.

Wendy Witch I don't know anything about ESA or JSA but it sounds as though you are a little overwhelmed. ((((Hugs)))), a cup of tea and then the phone call to the Citizen's Advice Bureau is the only thing I can suggest.

Dusty We've made some wrong choices over the years (orange paint in the bedroom!), but the work DH has put in to the preparation will make redoing it much, much quicker, and your ceiling is done, isn't it? That's progress. (We covered it with magnolia and lived with it for 10 years until we found the colour we wanted, which turned out to be Sand. I still think it's a bit too strong ....)

    Pigpen Wot TMD-id said.
    Better is good enough.

As a Caterer, I completely understand how you feel. I think people underestimate how much planning and prepping goes into these things. The cooking is the quick part! I have learned that if something can come ready chopped i.e. dates for sticky toffee puddings/apricots to go in couscous, then buy those. They are more expensive, but the time saving is a blessing when you have about 100 items to slice, dice, chop, peel, crush, grate etc., However, I do not apply this principal to pastry. I make my own which takes longer, but I prefer the result. I tried JusRol last time and it crumbled in the finished product.

I read the other day that you were working up until today (I think) and then doing 2 lots of catering on Saturday and I took my hat off to you.

    Hope that helps.

    TMD xx
