I may as well tell you here instead of by pm


they sent a letter end of January in which they stated that they are now taking our view on the matter --- well our view is that we are innocent


then they go to say that BG will write off the debt if we sign a gagging order to stop us disclosing this " deal" to any third party


there is no deal because we don`t owe them anything !!!


if we were guilty we would just sign the gagging order and have done with it but we can`t do that because we are totally innocent and I want BG to take us into the Civil Court


My wife is now on anti-depressants because she threw a wibbly wobbly last week because of all the pressure


BG don`t care -- head of Centrica on £ 5,000,000 package and head of BG not that far behind ---- how much did RPU turn over last year -- and is any of the recovered monies being given back to customers who are being smeared with the cost of gas and electricity theft ??!!!


Sick and tired of this whole thing .

Brilliant! Anyone stealing gas can now read this forum and will know that if they keep denying it, as long as they don't have a video recording of them tampering with the meter, they won't get prosecuted!

Also, I'm unsure why you're bringing anyones salary into this? It has no relevance to the conversation at all. I'm sure the CEO of Centrica is paid a similar salary to any other huge multinational company. This level of pay is dictated by a global market and not by those at British Gas or Centrica.

But we haven`t stolen any gas .
Our innocence is based on facts and figures which have been presented to BG .
Then issue of the salary is not really relevant to the case in question but is was merely a comment .
When it is considered that many people including pensioners have the choice to " eat or heat " it seems a little unfair when one looks at the enormous profits and salaries at these huge companies . Although I will say at the same time that too many people seem to want what they really can`t afford ---- in our house we keep all heating turned off throughout the day even when I spend the odd day working from home and the heat is kept low in the evenings . Of course I remember the days when we didn`t have central heating .
There is no answer really .
This brings me to the big picture .
I was on a visit to a leading University the other day . I got into conversation with 3 Physics professors -- we talked about how it all started -- big bang -- before big bang -- how something can come from nothing --- was it caused by energy which turned into matter --- AND I asked did they believe that New World Order was on the way --- answer --- Look around you -- don`t you think it`s already here --- here are my thoughts
big companies making huge profits and paying minimum wages to it`s workforce -- zero hours contracts etc etc --- unemployment has gone down by .4 % but most of those people were xmas workers who are back on benefits and the one`s who got longer contracts are on minimum wages etc etc so these people do not have the spare capacity to spend into the economy to help it grow --- they are spending their money with the big food giants and the utility giants just to survive --- and this .4 % figure is what the government and the banks will use to try to con us into thinking everything is ok now --- lets face it --- how many people do we all know who have lots of spare cash -- I have not had a holiday for 3 years because I don`t have the money to spare for my air fare but we scrimp and scrape and save so that my wife and family can get to Malaysia once a year to see family and when they are there they don`t spend much
I have known better times -- I used to fly light aircraft and have a big holiday every year --- but the economy seems to have gone into absolute reverse --- good luck to you all because I don`t see it getting much better for quite some time -- and of course oil prices will now rise again because of the crisis in the Ukraine !!!
I know of lot`s of people who are on benefits who are tampering their electric meters -- they will argue that they can`t afford to pay for the electricity from their benefits --- but why stay at home all day when you can go to the library to use their internet to look for jobs and apply for jobs -- or go for a walk in the park --- go out to look for work .
I do regret the post now because yes it may encourage some to tamper because they may think that they can get away with it but they are the people who won`t get away with it because if they are accused then the evidence will probably be enough to prove their guilt .
In our case the evidence is not conclusive .
If we were guilty we would accept the offer . All we want is to clear our name and be offered an apology from BG .
I recently saw the inside out programme where the Chinese Takeaway was caught because the seal had been removed and the cogs had been shaved .
In our case the report which came back from Scienco stated that there was no damage to the diaphragm and that the seal had not been removed or tampered . I was told that " maybe " the nut on the diaphragm could be removed without it showing signs of wear because you can put a piece of cloth around it to stop the spanner scratching the nut but that there would be signs of it being regulary undone on the inner screw thread and in our case there were no signs of wear anywhere apart from on the reverse side of the yolk which they say is indicative of reversal of the cogs . But if the meter in our shop was not new when it was installed it would have been reversed at the depot before being installed in our shop . I have asked BG for the original engineers jobsheet which would indicate whether or not the meter was indeed new . I requested this quite some time ago and I have had no reply --- so are they trying to hide something ?
I believe that if anyone does tamper a meter and they are caught , there will be conclusive evidence to prove that they have done so . And so I do not believe that this is a crime that you can get away with just because you continually protest your innocence . And people should be caught because we all end up paying the price of theft on our bills .
Also -- isn`t it about time that meters were made so that they can`t be tampered .

Maybe you've been the victim of "profiling" because you run a Chinese Takeaway?

Whilst I think your treatment is appalling, just to play devils advocate, many would argue that the odd false accusation is a just byproduct of having an active system of deterrent. Certainly BG are the only supplier doing anything at all about energy theft.

If you think what you put up with was bad, try being a Muslim at the airport or be young and black on the streets of London!
